Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

This was the loveliest home run by the sweetest couple. Great location near the blue tram line and walkable to many nearby sights. Shared bathroom and shower were impeccably clean and room was very comfortable. I felt very welcomed and the hosts even dropped me off at Hakodate station in the morning. Would love to stay here again.

NetherlandsThe hosts were so sweet. We arrived quite late and hungry and they called up restaurants for us to see if they were open and had space. They were super helpful and gave us the cutest picture and chopsticks souvenir. The room was great and comfy. It's pretty close to the tram stop. I would happily go here again if I'm visiting Hakodate!

It's a traditional Japanese house with gorgeous decorations (lots of small owl and Totoro figures) and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The owners were very kind and charming, as well.

No breakfast available during our stay but an amazing host who made the effort to chat with us and was the nicest host I've met in many years. We loved chatting with her. Their house is pretty amazing and packed with so much cool stuff to look at.

United States of AmericaThe Satos were amazing hosts and we enjoyed starting each of our 3 days with coffee and a chat with them. While we were staying in their home, we never felt like we were intruding on their space, nor they ours. Everything was very clean and comfortable (even as Westerners sleeping on futon/tatami....we got our best sleep of the trip here!).

AustraliaNothing, we enjoyed every single bits of our stay at Pension Jokura, it really made our one-night stay in Hakodate much better!
It is a very nice 2-story house with cute decorations and figures all over on the first floor. When we walked in, we were instantly amazed by the warmth and atmosphere that appeared in our sight. We were then greeted by the lovely hosts. The facilities are very clean and organised, suited well to our needs. And the room was quite spacious with a great view of the outside snow.

JapanI wish I could say something, but I don't have anything I didn't like. Maybe the location isn't the easiest from the mains station, but I liked how it was more residential. It's close to tram so not too bad.
We really enjoyed the people as cliche as that is. The hosts gave us wonderful directions and even drove us to the top of the mountain! We would definitely go back again and the charm of the house was especially noteworthy

South KoreaNothing to think of.
Pension Jokura is the jewel of the city. The location, property, and the facilities are near perfection. I had my first experience in the traditional Japanese room with tadami and futon which are comfortable and clean. Most importantly, a warm welcome and mindful hospitality of the hosts made my day.

United KingdomNothing, it was really perfect. You do have a slight worry about coming in too late, in case you would disturb the owners, but I don't think they'd mind (also Hakodate is not a particularly late-night town).
This was one of our favourite stays in Japan. The couple running it are so kind and friendly and attentive (they even gave us souvenir chopsticks with our names on!). The decor is quirky and cute and the rooms are super spacious. Bathroom facilities are great and the traditional sleeping set-up is really comfy (if you've never tried it before, I'd recommend).
