Really good location, good expeirience of staying at a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The staff were amazing. The rooms were very spacious and had all amenities required.

It seemed weird that we had to give back our key when we left, especially since the front desk was not open past 11 pm, so essentially there was a curfew. Also weird that we had to deposit our shoes with the staff and retrieve every time we came back. I get that they want to protect the tatami mats, but why not have a self check-in for shoes for each room? The system just slowed everything down

Location is great! Near the station, markets, restaurants, etc. The staff is WONDERFUL! They are so polite and peaceful, it’s gracious. The place is well kept, clean and quiet.

Perfect location at the town center. Experienced true ryokan style including amazing Japanese traditional breakfast. We could choose our own yukata to wear in and out of the hotel. Futons were very comfortable and truly the service by all the staff was amazing. Thank you!

Beautiful ryokan experience walking distance from the train station and from the old hidatakayama houses. Staff are very friendly. I got to wear a yukata. Breakfast was good, you get a mini version of hida beef which was delicious.

We visited in late July, at the peak of summer heat. The A/C in the first room we got wasn't coping. The second room was better with a fan running all the time. The staff did their best to help under the circumstances. Barring this, a great stay

Oyado Koto No Yume is a lovely Ryokan located in the heart of Takayam, a charming historic town. Very conveniently walking to restaurants and attractions, Takayama Jinya, Sanmachi Suji, Miyagawa Morning Market. We booked a room with breakfast. The breakfast has options of traditional Japanese or western. Both were great options. The service was superior. A young girl named Julie speaks perfect English. She was very pleasant and helpful. All other hotel staff were great. Their warm hospitality made our stay very special. In addition, the hotel has a laundry room so that guests to do their own laundry, if they need it. The hotel supplies laundry detergent for 100 Yuan. The hotel also provide guests with traditional Yukata. It added unique experience for the stay. I have given the hotel information to a friend who plans to visit the town in the fall. I am, also, looking forward to visiting the town and staying at Oyado Koto No Yume again soon!

Nothing to complain about, however the price a little bit to high in comparison to other ryokans that we visited earlier.

Breakfast truly Japanese and delicious. Staff more then kind and helpful. Very clean, including public bath. Futon bed made by staff. The whole atmosphere gives a great opportunity to deal with Japanese culture and customs. Strongly recommended.

It is a perfect place with a perfect team. We loved it from room to attitude and the breakfast.

Literally the only thing was the other guests who didn’t follow the onsen instructions: not washing before getting in, putting their loose hair or towel in the water, etc. If you stay here, just please read the instructions provided and follow them, don’t be the annoying culturally insensitive tourist. Also be aware that there is an 11pm curfew and a ‘bath tax’ charge. And if you’re vegan, we recommend opting for the ‘Bread and Fruit’ breakfast, as there are no vegan alternatives in the western/ Japanese breakfasts.

All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We loved staying in a traditional Japanese room. The location was fantastic, just a few minutes walk away from the train and bus stations, and yet it was also super peaceful inside the Ryokan. We loved wearing the yukata around the streets of Takayama, that was a really great experience. The onsen was amazing. Thanks to all the staff for making our honeymoon trip so special.
