Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The hotel was amazing. Beautiful large room and some lovely yukatas for us to wear. Although I didn't get to fully enjoy the onsen (due to medical reasons) , my partner did and it was outstanding. I was kindly allowed to dip my feet in the waters and it felt great. The hotel staff were very kind and allowed us to store our luggage in the lobby after checkout so we could visit a shrine that we missed. They also had a shop at the hotel were you buy the yukatas from the hotel and over various items. As we had been traveling alot prior we also used the washing machine to clean our clothes which the staff showed us to use. The staff also spoke good English so if you don't know much japanese you will be okay.

ColombiaThe room had a slight old smell, but that was to be expected as the property is very old.
The futon beds were really comfy. The staff was polite and helpful. The breakfast was traditional Japanese and a lot of food.

United Kingdom10am check out makes things a bit rushed especially as Japanese breakfast takes at least an hour to eat (NB: soft boiled eggs in Japan have runny whites which was not to my liking).
Close proximity to shrine, pier & Lawson’s convenience store. Accommodation was clean & as comfortable as a ryokan can be. Welcome from reception was very friendly & helpful.

AustraliaA fabulous place to stay! Staff super helpful and lovely, room spacious and clean and a great location only few minutes walk from the ferry but they also offer complimentary pick up and drop off from the ferry - much appreciated with luggage and in the summer heat. The island itself has a lovely vibe and very different to the busy cities we also visited. Its particularly peaceful in the evenings after the day trippers leave. The ropeway then hike to the summit is a must do first thing in the morning to avoid the day tripping crowds and queues. The shopping/market arcade is pumping during the day and mostly shuts down come late afternoon. We left it too late to find a restaurant which seem to close fairly early so if we were to come back, we’d make a booking at the restaurant.

SpainVery easy to arrive to, barely a 5 min walk from the Miyajima ferry station. The hotel is right next to the forest so it has super beautiful surroundings and it's quiet even when the morning ferries full of tourists start to arrive. All the staff were lovely and very helpful and the room was everything I expected. The public bath was also super nice. Would absolutely recommend to stay here.

United KingdomRooms were a little warm and the floor in the shower room was quite slippy/lacked the tiles which have a bit more grip.
Good location only minutes away from the ferry terminal and was great to enjoy the onsen after walking around Miyajima. The onsen itself is massive and more on the modern side. Food was good as well and no issue making a vegetarian version for my partner.

IsraelWe were not able to book the breakfast or dinner in advance when booking the stay because they were already fully booked, which was a disappointment. I contacted them the day i booked and they were already full.
Wonderful facility, the staff were super friendly and helpful, we booked the private onsen with no issue and it was great. The rooms were comfortable and lovely.

SwitzerlandI booked dinner and breakfast. I had an amazing experience for both - and there is really quite a lot to eat, especially at dinner. The Japanese-style room was bigger and more comfortable than most other Japanese-style rooms I've stayed at. The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful, with really good English, and always very friendly. My stay at Miyajima was truly a wonderful experience and a third of it is due to the hotel. (The other two thirds are the beauty of the island and the quiet of the place in the evening and early morning, truly peaceful.)

United KingdomThe room was a bit warm and we couldn't cool it down much even though the humidifier was turned on.
The hotel is located just 5 minutes walk from the ferry port and about 10 minutes walk from the temple and shrine. The dinner and breakfast were a great added experience, even more considering that there's not much to do around the island and everything closes quite early. The onsen is open until midnight and was great, extremely clean.

IndonesiaOur room was at the 3rd floor and the view wasn’t as nice as I expected. We arrived around noon, left our luggages and came back around 6 pm. When we asked for breakfast for the next day, the girl at the front desk told us that there was no availability. That they were full. We ended up having breakfast in another hotel, after searching for almost 30 mins. Most of the restaurants were closed. If you come to Miyajima be aware that restaurants close very early (we stayed here during the Japanese Golden Week). And options are not that many, as most of the times, they are full.
The facilities and location were very good (at 5 mins walking from the Ferry terminal). It is a unique experience to be done at least once in your life when coming to Japan. The room was spacious, and clean.
