As we were there in shoulder season it was a larger hotel and quite quiet.

Location was excellent. Close enough to explore the island but set back on the mountain in the quite.

not as much soul or friendliness as other places we stayed. anywhere staff were somewhat distant, though helpful enough if pursued. Quite expensive.

Lovely room with tatami and futon in a very nice hotel. The Onsen was really special. Good to explore Miyajima from, centrally located.

It's not the most traditional Ryokan and a lot of the traditional aspects are not explained at all, which made us wonder if we were doing things appropriately. Also the sinks were way too low and I pulled my back while attempting to wash my face.

The vibe is very old school but homey, the staff was very helpful and polite and the dinner was fantastic.

The only draw back was the door height in the unit itself. Being 6’2” you have to be careful going thru one or two of the door frames for height as you may bump your top of your head. 😀

First off the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and met all our needs. The diner and breakfast were excellent and the hostess exceptional. The wife and I appreciated the little extras offered!

Hotel was a not on the Main Street so it crowded and it was an easy to wherever you wanted to go. The staff were amazing and made sure our stay was super welcome and comfortable. Additionally the room was very cozy and clean. If and when we go back to Miyajima we will be staying there again.

My family are too old and too tall (husband 6 foot 2, teenage sons over 6 foot, so mattresses and doorways an issue, and we are not used to the hard sleeping mattress - we would be more comfortable in separate rooms on raised western style beds next time although it t was a unique experience for us !!

A place with a bit of old fashion vibes. The staff was very kind and attentive. The room we stayed was rather spacious, and we enjoyed sleeping on the futon. The breakfast was a feast and felt very authentic.

The hotel was amazing. Beautiful large room and some lovely yukatas for us to wear. Although I didn't get to fully enjoy the onsen (due to medical reasons) , my partner did and it was outstanding. I was kindly allowed to dip my feet in the waters and it felt great. The hotel staff were very kind and allowed us to store our luggage in the lobby after checkout so we could visit a shrine that we missed. They also had a shop at the hotel were you buy the yukatas from the hotel and over various items. As we had been traveling alot prior we also used the washing machine to clean our clothes which the staff showed us to use. The staff also spoke good English so if you don't know much japanese you will be okay.

The room had a slight old smell, but that was to be expected as the property is very old.

10am check out makes things a bit rushed especially as Japanese breakfast takes at least an hour to eat (NB: soft boiled eggs in Japan have runny whites which was not to my liking).

Close proximity to shrine, pier & Lawson’s convenience store. Accommodation was clean & as comfortable as a ryokan can be. Welcome from reception was very friendly & helpful.

A fabulous place to stay! Staff super helpful and lovely, room spacious and clean and a great location only few minutes walk from the ferry but they also offer complimentary pick up and drop off from the ferry - much appreciated with luggage and in the summer heat. The island itself has a lovely vibe and very different to the busy cities we also visited. Its particularly peaceful in the evenings after the day trippers leave. The ropeway then hike to the summit is a must do first thing in the morning to avoid the day tripping crowds and queues. The shopping/market arcade is pumping during the day and mostly shuts down come late afternoon. We left it too late to find a restaurant which seem to close fairly early so if we were to come back, we’d make a booking at the restaurant.
