Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe hotel is quite outdated. Old fashion in all ways, but still cute. Expensive for what it is. The sky terrace is small and not very interesting.
Good location near the lake, with beautiful view. Easy to come in and out with the hotel shuttle. We were able to rend bikes nearby and go around the lake, lovely experience. A few restaurants around within 8-10min walking distance. Good service and helpful staff. Rooms are big, plenty to space. Cool sauna on our balcony.

United StatesGreat location with both a Lake and Fuji view - made for beautiful breakfast scenery and we sat in awe looking at Mt Fuji from our room. I know a few older reviews mentioned the facilities are older (which they are) but I thought they added to the charm and appreciated the Kotatsu and heated toilet. The staff also made sure everything was ready for us at checking including tea that was already made and the bath already filled. The walkthrough was also extreme helpful! Finally, they now serve coffee at breakfast which means they have read the reviews! We didn’t get to see Mt Fuji the first day but the room was well worth it for the following day

MalaysiaAhh… my only complain is that why isnt there milk available at the vending machine outside the onsen :(
We stayed in the tatami suite with private bath with mt fuji view. Hospitality is the greatest. I love everything about this hotel. Although it has aged a little but it definitely gives the authentic japanese experience. The only sad experience was that we didnt get to see fuji during our stay due to bad weather. Nevertheless, i enjoyed very much my stay here.

United KingdomThe internet could have been better, it was a bit slow, but if you are there to disconnect, that won’t be a great issue. However, bear that in mind if you are into content creation or posting.
The traditional Japanese dinner is something everyone should try! The traditional room was also amazing, with futon beds and tatami. Great experience overall! And for the ladies, you get to choose from many colourful yukatas when you join. Also, one more thing, they have a private onsen as well with a balcony towards Fuji. The terrace also gives some stunning Fuji views in the early morning! 10/10

AustraliaPerhaps a little expensive though many places are around Mount Fuji. The drainage was noisy after a toilet flush or shower, with gurgling and popping suggesting a partial blockage somewhere. The beds though OK, were very noisy meaning that if you rolled in your sleep, it was enough to wake up the other person. Most places around the complex were just showing signs of deterioration and it needs someone to start at one end and perform some general maintenance and repair services throughout.
This hotel was built in the late 1960's and whilst I think it has been refurbished once or twice since then it is need of a makeover. Like most of Kawaguchiko it seems a bit rundown in places. We had a Mount Fuji view room and that was fantastic. We had clear views of the mountain on the last morning which was great. The room itself was quite large and very spacious. The bathroom was also great with a window in which to view the mountain whilst you had a shower. The beds, singles were a bit bouncy, but we slept OK. The staff were excellent, extremely helpful and very patient with us westerners, and I couldn't fault them at all. The dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were good and quite large set menu meals. A little too much food for us but quite good, nonetheless.

IndiaWould probably skip the private onsen next time - it was a bit outdated looking compared to the public baths available there. Was expecting the washroom to be a little more luxurious but it wasn't a problem.
After budgeted stays for the most of our trip, we splurged on this night stay and it was absolutely worth it. The room was spacious with a beautiful view in a traditional Japanese style and they had yukatas for women. It was a cute touch to wear that and walk around. The hotel is located right next to the lake which offers a stunning view. The view of Mount Fuji is great too. I tried the public jacuzzi and the paid private onsen and absolutely loved the jacuzzi. The dinner and breakfast were a really nice traditional Japanese experience. Although a bit much for me in terms of raw fish so I had kept some back up snacks in my room from 7 eleven which I munched on later at night. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We were too tired to venture far out to see what else was available nearby and just enjoyed the views around the property and it was the highlight and the most relaxing part of our trip!

AustraliaThe property is tired and could do with a renovation. However, this did not deter us from loving our stay. I had read such negative reviews which were not warranted. We had a wonderful experience.
Great location directly on Lake Kawaguchiko and great views of Mt Fuji. We loved our superior Japanese room with private outdoor bath facing out to Mt Fuji. This short stay was the highlight of our trip to Japan.

AustraliaI wish I booked 2 nights stay to explore the area. Being a non-Japanese visitor, I struggle to communicate with staff. And would be very grateful to offer more coffee in breakfast for coffee-addicted people like me.

United StatesRepairs on the wood work refurbishing some of the walls and furniture pieces. Otherwise we had a great stay loved the 70-80's vibe.
We had a spectacular lake view and loved the tatami mats in our room. We had some small tables and kimonos to use as well. The Onsen on the property was great and loved the view of Mt. Fuji from the Onsen and the rooftop.
