Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Luxury Ryonkan with exceptional view of Senso ji and Tokyo Skyetree from reception and from the rooms to. Apartment is very big for Japanese standard, good bathroom and tatami floor in the living room. Futon bedrooms were a very positive experience. Staff super nice and they speak well English. AustraliaI wish I booked more time here - this accomodation was in another league to the other Japanese hotels I stayed at during my trip.
It was close to two key train lines and I had full view of Kaminarimon Gate from my window. The property was clean, modern and easy to get to. Most of all, the staff were exceptionally helpful - they learned I liked a certain type of natto and when I showed them that I bought the wrong natto, they actually went out and bought me the chopped natto that I actually wanted. I was blown away. Their tips for nearby ramen and massage were also on point. I'm so glad I got to stay here at the end of my trip.

SingaporeNothing, really. But I do hope they allow breakfast in room, I would love to have them on the low table on tatami mat. But I wouldn’t mind having breakfast with strangers in lobby since I was solo traveller.
Spotless clean room. Friendly and helpful front desk staffs. Emails were replied quite fast, quick response. Beautiful breakfast. The best location in Asakusa. Really the highlight of my solo trip.

Such a good location near the Senso gi temple. Spotlessly clean. Very Japanese with tatami mats and a deep bath. Staff are very helpful and speak English. A laundry to wash and dry clothes. Very quiet room. Elegant hotel … I really can’t fault it. Well worth the money. Japanese breakfast if you want it.

CanadaNothing. Everything was great. Although my wife said some bath salts would be a good addition to the bath.
Amazing! I can't thank the Kaminarimon Ryokan enough for the incredible experience I had during my stay. From the moment I stepped in, I felt like I had entered a tranquil oasis in the heart of Japan. The attention to detail in the traditional Japanese design of the ryokan, along with the warm and welcoming staff, made me truly appreciate the beauty of Japanese culture and hospitality. The tatami room was comfortable and authentically Japanese, and the private bath was sublime, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the local way of life. This stay was more than just accommodation; it was a genuine cultural experience that I'll cherish forever. Domo arigato gozaimasu, Kaminarimon Ryokan, for making my Japan journey exceptional!

New ZealandNothing everything was perfect
We travelled for three weeks in Japan and this was our favourite ryokan. If I could give more than 10/10 I would. The staff are amazing, so gracious and helpful. The whole place has an air of peacefulness about it despite being in the centre of a popular tourist attraction. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very traditional. The view from our room was incredible. This place is fantastic. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

United StatesThey didn't offer lunch. They didn't offer dinner. A kaiseki dinner fixed by their chef would have been something to look forward to all day.
This is the first time we had breakfast at the Kaminarimon and we are so glad we did. The kaiseki breakfast was exquisite. A feast for the eyes and a treat for the palate. The ambiance was enhanced by the decor of crafts artfully placed and the soothing music gently piped in. What a wonderful experience to wake up to. In addition, I loved the peaceful serenity of the ryokan. It was a soothing refuge from the hustle and bustle of Nakamise Street which you could view from the quiet of the room.

This is a dainty very clean hotel with superb air con ( August is HOT ), warm, polite ,attentive staff, so from the beginning we felt at home. We stayed two nights in the Japanese style rooms which are very minimalistic and calm and we stayed another night later on in our trip in normal rooms before we flew home. They were also wonderful and perhaps a little bigger if you prefe more space. It is above a Starbucks cafe and close to ATM's the tube and the shrine and market. The extra costs were government taxes in cash ( about £6 GBP ) and to use the washing machines ( £3 ) - not much extra at all. The staff went the extra mile to ensure that we were happy.
