Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe crowds near by, but that is not their fault. It's literally right next to the temple and shopping street.
Everything!!!! It was such a beautiful place. I fell in love with my room. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. I would give every employee there a 10/10. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and finished it all even though I have no idea what most of it was, compliments to the chef on that one. I will definitely book this place again when I return next time. Possible more than 1 night next time.

United Kingdomnothing. the accommodation was perfect. the staff so nice. it was just what I needed for my first night in Tokyo solo.
Such a gem to find. So peaceful. I love it. Can not recommend this enough. You are right in the old town and it actually doesn't feel the bad kind of touristy. Loads of restaurants to eat in. I would recommend stepping into the side streets and away from the main strip towards the temple/

Amazing location right next to the Kaminarimon Gate, extremely clean and beautiful property. Our room was very spacious for 2 people. Staff were amazing and so hospitable. We even tried a traditional Japanese breakfast there which you have to book in advance but was a lovely experience. Would highly recommend staying here

CanadaAlthough I booked a quad room with a sitting area, we were given a smaller room. This is the only con with our stay at the ryokan.
We enjoyed our stay with Kaminarimon Ryokan very much. The location is amazing, close to the train station and we've had a wonderful time exploring Asakusa. The ryokan was unique, very clean and has a calm and soothing atmosphere. The staff were amazing. All of them were friendly and professional. They helped us with our baggage and airport transfers. The breakfast was very good. We really enjoyed the breakfast especially on the last day. Definitely will recommend to family and friends.

United States-I was initially told by staff I could be served breakfast in my Japanese style room , but was told later in night that I would have to go down to restaurant level due to low staff - despite this , the breakfast was still very good and special - and the chef was definitely a character and very nice with his explanations I’d recommend giving it a try even if you have to eat downstairs - for price of the room, providing some aromatic herbs and mineral salts for the bath would have been very nice additons - I would say bath was very a accommodating to my 170cm body
A lot of this hotels appeal is the location and view it provides of sensoji / the shopping street - and I must say that view is one of a kind - being able to see the street before tourist arrived in the morning was something very special and being able to hang around the area at night without fear of getting back to my hotel as a solo travelled was super serene and could not have been experienced without this hotel - I got one of my favorite pictures of trip with Tokyo sky tree lit up in background of the ground window - for the room itself it was certainly the largest of all my stays, I took an extremely satisfying bath, the toilet was the most high tech of the whole trip and the futon bed was comfortable -though limited with interactions the staff I interacted with was kind -the fridge having a couple of beverages that were actually not charged was also a very nice addiction - I would definitely stay again if given the opportunity

AustraliaThat we didn't get a chance to stay longer
The room was so spacious and felt really Traditional with the addition of modern amenities. Staff were so lovely, able to recommend resturants to visit, even looked up a tattoo friendly onsen near by for us. They were non-judgemental of our tattoos. Definitely worth the stay and we will be coming back again.

AustraliaIt was perfect, we loved it.
If you like shopping, Nakamise markets are right at your doorstep. If you like to cook, Asakusa has everything you need. Skytree is around the corner. When we arrived at the hotel, the entrance was a lift, but as soon as we entered the lobby, it was like I stepped back in time. The 3 staff members were in kimono 👘 and it was amazing. Our room was absolutely perfect, just like the pictures on Bookings.com. We are definitely going to stay there again, it's so central to everything.

GermanyThe only downside is when we check out. We were two women carrying 5 luggages, one would expect the staff to help us to bring the luggage to taxi point, which is right in front of the hotel on the main road.
Location is great, can’t get closer to Kaminarimon. Breakfast is also good, although expensive. Twin room is clean and modern, especially spacious for us to open 4 luggages at the same time. Bathroom is also spacious, shower is with good pressure. There is also laundry machine for use for a very cheap price.

The suite was beautiful and comfortable with some extra unexpected amenities. There was coffee available and extra toiletries. There was complimentary candy when we first arrived and water every day. We were in the penthouse and had great views of Tokyo, Shinjin-jo Shrine. Our stay included a typical Japanese breakfast which we enjoyed. To top it off they had a birthday gift waiting for me!
