Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

PolandWhen I checked in the desk clerk forgot to give me English instruction about the air conditioning and wi-fi. Instead of telling me directly she... passed the document to the other guest who passed it to me and explained the whole situation. The staff is not only incompetent, but it consists of liars as well. The room I received was dirty. There were hair on the floor and on the walls and the ceiling of the bathroom. On the desk there was something which looked like a dried snot. I also found dried paste/cream on the coffee mug. I reported it the next day in the morning. The desk clerk assured me that it will be cleaned by the time I return. I returned late afternoon and still the room wasn't cleaned. I went to the lobby again and talk to the same clerk. He apologized and assured that the cleaning staff will take care of it the next day. By the next day afternoon it was still not cleaned. I spoke with the manager. He offered me a bigger room. It took 2 days to get the the clean room and I had to demand it 3 times in a row. This is unacceptable. The furniture is old and it looks like from the 80s. I will avoid not only JAL Group hotels (JAL City, Okura, Nikko) but Japan Airlines as well. If you can't run one hotel properly I am afraid to fly your planes.

IrelandThat the information was not transferred properly. I asked for a larger room on a high floor with the view but only the high floor was accounted for. I wish they told me that the room I will get, will be small and widouth the view as I exchanged the messages with the hotel staff. On the C/I I was not informed as well that my conditions that I was requesting were not be able to be meet. It was a bit disappointing when we arrived to the room as we were not informed. That needs some improvement.
Bed was comfortable and my request was meet to some extent. Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was a lovely stay.

CanadaThe room we were first assigned for our 4 night stay was so small we had no place to put our carryon bags let alone a large suitcase. There was one chair and very little room to get around. We masked to get a room that could accommodate a couple comfortably but the only available room, that we ultimately accepted, was a little larger but still cramped with one stool but two single beds pressed together. Unfortunately, it was explained that a previous guest had smoked in the room against the rules and therefore the room had a ‘slight’ cigarette smell. Unfortunately, the smell remained for our entire stay and was very unpleasant.
Good location close to Yamashita Park and China Town. Lots of options at breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.
