Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was unclear how to reserve private bath area. Maybe I missed some information as not everything had English translation. Small bathroom area and towels were really thin. Maybe more sun beds around the pool area would be welcoming to guests.
Newly renovated so bedroom, dinner no area and reception area were very modern.

JapanThe staff does not have bilingual ability. You have to pay extra for children's play room and facilities. In house meals are focused on Japanese cuisine. We were especially disappointed in the breakfast - with very little choice for a western pallet (normal eggs, bread, cereal, fruit was not available)
The rooms have a beautiful view. The hotel's interior is clean and smart looking. It was a great size room for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). Our main reason for visiting was the pool and we were not disappointed. The children's pool is shallow and safe with a slide that slides down into the water. The outside area is kept clean.

SwitzerlandThe rooms are renovated and very comfortable, but the bathrooms (toilet and shower) are horrible! Too small, very old, just overpainted. As well the old windows should be replaced. We also have to mention the surroundings. It looks more like a jungle. They definitely need to hire a gardener.
Fully renovated dining area, outdoor pool, rooms and several public areas. The view from the hotel was simply amazing!

AustraliaThe room itself was a little old, but since we spent so little time there, it hardly mattered. The quality of the rest of the hotel made the room irrelevant
The room itself was average inside, but had amazing views - but what makes this hotel so special is the amazing baths, and the fabulous meals The baths are on the top floor and have panoramic views of the ocean and night sky. There is an outdoor infinity-edge bath - perfect for watching the stars and light house at night; as well multiple indoor baths and spas and saunas. For dinner, it is a buffet, which doesn't sound fantastic and yet it was. There were at least 8 chefs on hand to cook dishes to your specification, and the choice was phenomenal. Plus, all we could drink for 2000y.

CanadaThis place absolutely nickels and dimes you for EVERYTHING. I had asked the help of the staff for a simple anniversary message (think: happy anniversary, xyz) and I was asked to pay 800 yen for this, after I had declined to accept a dessert plate for 1500 yen which is their cheapest option. Oh, and make sure to KEEP YOUR BATH TOWELS after using the pool and onsen!! Extra towels also cost extra!! Want to use the pool after 5pm?? You must pay to use the pool until 7pm for 500 yen per person, no kids under 18 allowed. It would have been nice to know that the pool opened from 1pm for staying guests that day, and you can use the pool after check out until 12pm. It's nice for people who don't have plans, but for people who have a tight schedule, the pool use in the mornings would have been super nice! Speaking of towels, we had some noticeable dirty spots on our towels which really left a sour taste in my mouth about this place, especially knowing I cannot get extra towels. You can also see the age of the building even though they revovated the rooms and restaurant, and some of the facilities are also being torn down when we were there. Like the unit baths in the room were clearly left in from the old hotel, those are reeeeeeeeally old.
The views from the hotel were truly beautiful, even on a cloudy day. I loved the lobby's look and it opens up to a massive view of the coast below. The breakfast and dinner buffets were quite good with lots of western and asian options (particularly Japanese and Chinese). The beds were comfortable and depending on the location of your room, you can have a wonderful view of the ocean. The spa onsen are actually really nice though! You have a great view and lots of options there, and that way you don't need to use the worn old unit baths in the room...
