Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Cheap and in shinjuku- super convenient to nearby metro on a major line. Sleeps 4 people. It was clean and quiet.

GermanyThe bathroom was not very nice. It wasn't spacey at all and the floor was constantly wet from wherever all this water came from. If you let the sink run a second too long or too strong the drainage on floor would overflow :( and even though we all were careful after it happened once there was always water somehow.. The shower curtain looked a bit moldy and the shoes they prepared for the shower looked very used already. We bought new flip flops to not stand directly on the floor of the shower-bathtub.
The location was very nice. You could reach Shinjuku (20 min by foot) and Shibuya (with the subway) very fast. Sleeping on the futon was more comfortable than I thought, and it was OK even for a whole week. It was also not too loud except the (expected) noise on the weekend. The staff is very nice and you can let your luggage stay with the receptionist until you check in/ have to leave for your flight.

IsraelThe vents were disgustingly dusty, the AC was filled with dust and mold. The worker there tried his best but I still got really bad allergies every time I turned on the AC (and it's so hot and humid you can't really sleep without)...
Was minimal, and just what I needed. Close to work and nice Indian stores. As soon as I complained the one worker there did all he could to clean up.

United StatesThe futon bedding was a little thin and the tatami mats are made of plastic I think rather than the traditional straw so it felt a bit hard and stiff for sleeping.
Tatami-mat rooms enabled our family of 2 adults and 2 young kids to stay in the same room in Tokyo. Close to Shin Okubo train station which is only 1 stop from Shinjuku.

JapanThere was a strange smell in the room and it wasn't as clean as I hoped. My pillowcase was torn and all the bedding smelled and looked old, musty, and unwashed. The shower area was a bit moldy with some leftover hair as well. The walls were thin as I could hear other guests being noisy.
The entrance was cute clean and check in was easy. My room was very spacious with a private toilet and shower/bath. Their was AC/heating and a hair dryer to use. I really liked the shampoo and body soap.
