Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

VietnamThe location is 2 minutes to the station of the famous beautiful Enoden train, you can hop on and off the line using the day pass. Very easy to walk to the beach to enjoy sunrise, sunset or go surf. Quiet ad peaceful street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice house, comfy bed and living room.

AustraliaVery cozy place to stay. I was in the room with a single bunk bed and it was small but I don’t have much luggage so ok for me. Convenient to station and nice walk to temples and beach. Wish I’d booked more than 1 night.

New ZealandUnfortunately the shower was broken while we were there, and after a couple of days we felt quite grubby. The hosts were.trying to find someone to fix it but had no luck during oir stay. Our room was very tiny & cluttered but probably fair for.what we paid.
Really lovely staff and atmosphere. There were opportunities to socialise or you could keep to yourself, good location - near the beach, train station & attractions.

United StatesIf there are multiple people staying in the house, it can be difficult to wash and dry your clothes. The time frame to use the washer and dryer is also limited so you will have to be patient.
The location was just a 3 minute walk from the beach and very close to multiple cafes and shops. The area felt safe and had a laidback feel to it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We felt welcomed in the guest house and would definitely stay with Iza Kamakura again!

United StatesBeds were a bit creaky. Bedtime for us was good, but keep in mind that if you want to go to bed earlier, it might be hard to fall asleep if people are interacting Downstairs. But they do have earplugs available.
Great staff, very nice and had good ideas on stuff to do. The common area was nice and some people just hung out there. They held our luggage for us before we checked in so we could explore.

United KingdomIt is an absolute injustice that this place does not have higher ratings. I last stayed here in 2019 before Covid and had such fond memories. I've come back in 2023 and it's such a cozy place. It's common room has the most character of any hostel I've stayed in, the rooms are cozy and warm. There's a well facilitated kitchen or good food available to buy. People need to come here and then spread the word that this place is lovely.

MalaysiaAs the others have mentioned, the air conditioning unit is placed directly on top of of one of the bunk beds. If the person that is sleeping there decides to turn it off if its too cold, then the entire room will be too warm and uncomfortable to sleep. Please consider relocating the air conditioning unit so that it can reaches everyone, or relocating the bunk bed so that it does not hinder the air conditioning's flow. This issue has been there for a while now, and a lot of people are complaining about it. Please take actions soon.
I like the common area where you can relax with your drinks and have a chat with other guesthouse guests. There's also a takoyaki party every Saturday, but I have missed out as I arrived on Sunday. It was a pleasant stay overall.

United StatesDorm room somewhat cramped, and it got a little bit warm. Lockers are available, but I didn’t love that they were right by the front door (I had no issue with lost items, but I was weary that the lockers were in such a prominent place). One shower room was pretty tiny.
Excellent location, near Hase Station off the Enoshima Line, and 2 minutes from the beach. My bed was comfy, and each bunkbed had a privacy curtain and outlets. I liked that there was a female-only dorm room and bathroom. There is a bar downstairs, and an area for eating. Perfect home base for exploring Kamakura and Enoshima Island. Staff were very nice. 8/10.

United KingdomIt seemed a bit sad that there wasn't any tea or coffee for guests to make with the supplied kettle, in order to get a hot drink when getting up in the morning. It's a bit tricky in sleepy Kamakura to get something to drink in the early morning, short of venturing out to a vending machine, so that would be appreciated. Even if it was an honesty box system to take a teabag, or coffee, that would be fine. Just anything would be welcome at 7am! Also, this isn't a negative, but if you stay, organize anything like leaving luggage etc on check-in, because it can be tricky to find the staff if you need them in a hurry - it's just a laid back place, and they're running around doing stuff, so just get organized early, then don't worry about it.
The location is excellent for exploring Hase, and getting down to Yuigahama Beach in less than 90 seconds. Hasedera, the Great Daibatsu Buddha, and more are within easy walking. It's a quiet street as well. The room I was in was the female dorm, and was low-frills, but also comfortable and quiet and calm. It was six beds in a reasonable sized room, we weren't crammed in. A good place to spend a few nights in order to explore Kamakura and Enoshima. The toilet & sink are upstairs with the dorms, the showers are downstairs. It's a fair arrangement, and convenient and good for minimizing disruptions. Keigo-san was a great host to welcome me in, and show me the way of the place. The price was perfectly fine, and appropriate. Even though there's a bar less than 10ft from where I was sleeping, I had no bother sleeping - it's not a noisome place, it's nice.

United StatesWe stayed in the private room with 2 bunk beds, it was a small space and bit stuffy since we couldn't open the windows and the air conditioning didn't seem to be working. But the common area downstairs and tables out front were a good way to enjoy the space.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great, near to Hase station and the beach.
