Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe room is very small, and there was no space to store 2 suitcases. It was quite difficult to get dressed, but the room is great. It would be great for a weekend, but difficult to manoeuvre as a couple.
The proximity to Shinjuku Station. Well centred with great views.

United StatesI DIDN'T LIKE THE SMALL ROOMS. NOT A ROOM OR HOTEL TO RELAX.
I PAYED FOR A "SUPERIOR" ROOM THINKING THE ROOM WAS BIGGER. REVIEWS IN SOCIALMEDIA ALREADY INDICATE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL. WELL, ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL, PRACTICALLY NO SPACE TO ACCOMODATE LUGGAGE, SUITCASES HAD TO BE OENED AND CLOSED AND ONLY ONE OUTFIT TAKEN OUT AT A TIME. THERE IS BASICALLY NO SPACE TO OPEN SUITCASES UNLESS DONE IN THE ENTRANCE HALLWAY OR BED. ROOMS HAVE NO CLOSETS AND WE COULD NOT EVEN WALK TOGETHER BETWEEN BED AND SOFA/DESK. I STAYED IN OTHER JAPANESE OWNED HOTELS IN JAPAN-OSAKA, HAKONE, KYOTO, AND THE ROOMS WERE MUCH BIGGER AND COMFORTABLE. HERE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL. WE WERE A GROUP OF SEVEN AND BOOKED 4 BEDROOMS AT THIS HOTEL, AND MY ROOM WAS THE ONLY SUPERIOR ROOM. IT WAS EXCTLY THE SAME SIZE AS THE OTHERS, SO I CAN'T UNDERTAND WHY I ENDED PAYING MORE...JUST BECAUSE OF THE WORD SUPERIOR? MY FRIENDS WERE IN UPPER FLOORS WITH AMAZING VIEWS AND PAID LESS. BEING INSIDE THE ROOM WAS UNCOMFORTABLE, THE BED IS ATTACHED TO THE WALL SO WHOEVER SLEEPS "INSIDE" WILL HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING OFF THE BED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITHOUT WAKING UP THE OTHER PERSON. OVERALL, THE HOTEL LOOKS CLEAN, ROOMS ARE VERY WELL KEPT AND CLEAN, LOCATION IS NICE BUT NOT THE BEST IF TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN. IT IS LOCATED IN THE RED-LIGHT DISTRICT AND IT GET VERY BUSY AND CROWDED THERE. OVERALL, THE ROOMS ARE EXTREMELY SMALL WITH VERY LITTLE SPACE TO WALK AROUND. I HAD TO SIT ON THE BED TO LET MY PARTNER WALK BY TO OPEN THE SMALL REFRIGERATOR OR SAFE BOX. A COUPLE OF TOURISTS CARRYING LARGE SUITCASES WON'T SURVIVE IN THE ROOM. BARELY HAD THE SPACE TO OPEN SUITCASES. BATHROOM WAS HUGE! I SPENT ALL DAY OUT, SO WENT THERE JUST TO SLEEP. NOT THE TYPE OF ROOM YOU CAN STAY JUST TO RELAX. I APPRECIATE THEY GAVE ME A ROOM ON THE 8TH FLOOR- LOBBY LEVEL AND I DID NOT HAVE TO TAKE ELEVATORS TO UPPER FLOORS. IT IS A HUGE HOTEL WITH LOTS OF TOURISTS GOING IN AND OUT.

New ZealandThe pillow were oddly hard and not very comfortable.
The breakfast offered an interesting variety of foods. I would have liked to see more pasties but overall it was good. There was a choice of Japanese or other cuisine. So you could be adventurous with choice or play it safe with food you know. It was also nice to have the toilet separated from the shower and the vanity area.

SingaporeJust below the property is where many young people gather, sit on the streets, drinking alcohol and having their own party. Every night. And a few end up lying drunk on the sidewalk, passed out. With beer cans and bottles strewn all around. Unsightly.
Location was excellent

United StatesIt is located on the edge of the red light district. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable for westerners. The pillows are hard and half buckwheat. In other words, this is an Asian hotel: hard beds and weird pillows.
This property is great if you love Godzilla. It is centrally located in the heart of Shinjuku. It is on the edge of the red light district with many host clubs nearby. It’s very easy to get to the train station from this location. Just a short walk.

United StatesThe hotel room is quite small, and there are no full closets, but it was adequate for 2 adults. The breakfast buffet has limited selections, and beverage choices are limited.
Great location for restaurants, shopping, and walking distance to Shinjuku train station (~ 8 to 10 minutes). The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Room has a great view of Tokyo city. Self-service laundry machines (washer/dryer combined) are available for 500¥ (~ $3.27 USD).

AustraliaGood location in shinjuku, a plus is the 24 hr convenience store inside the same building on the first floor. The room was cute, clean, nice bathroom, and had everything you expect with reasonable amenities (toothbrush, hairbrush, coffee, tea, etc.). The hotel buffet breakfast is a good option early in the morning as not much else is open at 6:30am or 7am.
