Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lithuania-
The room was Japanese-style, which was great for my vacations as a starting point. The location is in a calm part of the city, so I could sleep well.

BelgiumThe restaurant/Otseku needs improvement. The breakfast (which is complementary) is frugal. When going a bit late, many dishes are running out and they are not replenished. The staff mentions "we're sold out" and that's it. You will have to satisfy with an unbalanced breakfast then. We tried the room service for dinner and while the menu looks attractive, several options were "sold out". With some improvement on the restaurant part, this would have been a perfect experience. A pity.
We liked the spacious room and Japanese athmosphere at the hotel, well kept tidy rooms as well. Great plus is the faculty to enjoy the big bath and sauna on the top floor. Efficient reception staff and swift check-in and check-out. Flexible to store luggage after check out time.

Malaysia- our bath in the room was quite old. I didn’t use the ofurou because it looked a bit moldy. I just took quick showers in my room after having a soak in the rooftop public bath - they only give one body towel and one face towel per guest, and will tell you outright if you request for more
- the public bath on the rooftop and sauna was nice! - the vibe in the room is immaculate. The tatami is comfortable and clean, the ceilings are low (my bf of 6ft hit his head on the beam a few times, that’s how authentic this is) - the staff keeps the tatami clean and is diligent about changing our futon sheets daily - they change out the yukata daily, too - breakfast is simple and nice. It’s what I expect to eat if I do a homestay with a Japanese grandma.

The big Japanese-style room and the spa at the top. The price was quite good for value.

FranceBut the elevator's signal lamp seems not working properly, sometimes we do not go up or down when it arrives. Some of the cloth lockers in the big bathroom seem a bit broken (the hanger is broken inside). I mean the breakfast place could improve a bit, a little bit of chaos
The room is pretty nice. The large bathroom is really amusing. They have a man's sauna, which is very comfortable. The staff speaks English and is very polite. They adjust the cleaning time according to our request, very friendly. Nice breakfast quality.

FranceI had a non-smoking Japanese (tatami) room, which was surprisingly large. Apart from that the hotel's own small onsen, which is open practically all night, was really nice.

FinlandThe hotel is quite dated (though mostly in a rather charming way). In particular, if you prefer not to shower at their onsen, you should note that bathrooms in the traditional Japanese rooms are not exactly up to modern standards.
An atmospheric place with traditional Japanese rooms and, most importantly, a small onsen on the top floor. No issues with wifi in my room. It was my third time staying here; I try to book this hotel every time I have business in the area.

ChileBreakfast service was not that good. First, location of restaurant wasnt inside de hotel, later, we had to ask for rice because bowl was empty. They ended breakfast 15 minutes before finish time (taking food away), so we has to run to pick up food.

Saudi ArabiaAt night even with the curtains on the room felt too bright. We managed to adjust to it (probably because we were very tired after a full day of sightseeing) but I know it might not feel comfortable for everyone.
Amazing location, very nice staff. We loved the experience of sleeping on futon beds and having tatami floor. Also the layout of the room was very "japanese" with a genkan which we also loved.

GermanyA bit far from the station. 10 minutes walk. The breakfast was good, the choice was not bad, but you had to be there at 9 am, to get a good buffet. The one day they already cleaned the buffet at 9.15. The onsen is a nice on the top, but not really the best we had seen. It's not worth the prize. Next time I would rather go to another place nearer to a station and not so expensive.
The rooms were very nice. It was enough space for 3 people and the futon was very comfortable. The check out time is 12 am. Good choice for breakfast in continental and japanese food
