Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyActually the staff was really nice but the system of the hotel is pretty unorganized. One staff member didn’t tell the next one that we already checked in. They don’t really seem to have a digital system neither. We slept early as it was our arrival day and all of a sudden the other staff member just came into our room as she thought we didn’t check in yet. Pretty unpleasant situation as we were sleeping already and that gave us a pretty waking up shock. Of course the hotel apologized, but they really need a better system.
The room had a small cooking space. Good, if you are staying longer and want to make breakfast or such. Comfy beds and a little bit more space than in other common hotel rooms in Tokyo in this price range. Nice interior. The area around the hotel seems to be pretty quiet while it is easy access to Shinjuku station.

United StatesThe rooms are “rough looking” but that’s the style and art. It makes it look dirty, but it’s clean.
It is in a very good location.

SloveniaNo microwave available and the house shoes were not comfy at all (the floor is concrete and cold).
The location was good, two major subway lines (exit E7) and multiple convenience stores in close proximity. Nice smoking corner outside.

SingaporeIt is a little small but adequate. Rooms are not very sound proof so you hear people talk and when they move loudly in the corridors. There is no lift if you stay on higher floors but staff helped to bring the luggage up to the room.
Location is near Shinjuku station and Express Bus Terminal. Easy to get to from airport amd near all the shopping areas. Staff are friendly and allowed luggage deposit before checkin and after checkout. Towels were provided well.

United KingdomAs above, it's dusty. Otherwise charming and convenient and I liked it for what it was!
This is a well-placed value apartment stay for a traveller not planning to stay in much while in Shinjuku. The staff were incredibly friendly, and despite being a stone's throw away from the incredibly busy Shinjuku station it's down a quiet side street and a good night's sleep can be had! Although quirky and eccentric in decoration, the place definitely is overdue a deep clean and was dusty with clogged aircon and extractor fans. This won't be for everyone, but it suited my needs and I would willingly use this place again for a convenient place to sleep inbetween late night Tokyo adventures!

United StatesOk, yeah, the walls are thin, so if your neighbors are loud you’ll hear them. (I didn’t have much of a problem with that, but obviously it’s a question of politeness.) Also my side of the floor faced onto a schoolyard, so in the weekday AM you will hear a lot of gathered kids… which I loved. But if you sleep in that won’t be a plus. And there are no closets. Just know that in general the rooms are a tight fit. Fine for one… but even a double might be cramped for 2 after more than a couple of days. I stayed for almost a week, alone, and overall I loved being there.
I absolutely love this place. It’s exactly what I expected. It’s fun, funky, stylish, and has a personal vibe that’s the exact opposite of the corporate Tokyo hotel scene that dominates (at any price point). The staff is sweet, hip, helpful and relaxed. Yeah, the rooms are small, but at that price in that location it’s a steal.

United KingdomThe room was very small and pretty uncomfortable for a couple. Luckily we didn’t have too much luggage as there was no room for it. It was fine for 2 nights, but I wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer.
The property itself is really cool, we love the aesthetic, and it’s in a great location. It was the perfect spot to explore Tokyo from. The staff were super friendly and attentive.

JapanThis is my 3rd time staying here and I’ve encountered the same problem twice: there is no common area so often drunk guests talk loudly in the hallways. Since the hallway is concrete, everything echoes and you can clearly hear conversations in your room. Bring earplugs!
The vintage decor was charming and the location is absolutely perfect! The price and location alone are unbeatable, especially considering most of the cheaper accommodations in Shinjuku are stuffy business hotels or seedy love hotels. Staff is kind. We also appreciated the early check-in time.

United StatesIt was fine. A little "shabby chic" for my tastes, but interesting.
Great location for seeing the Shinjuku area, and very convenient walk from the station. I liked that it had a sink and electric kettle and fridge.

AustraliaMy room (306) had a strange smell, was okay with the window open but over night when I closed it, there was a mustiness in the air. Felt like it was coming from the bedding or mattress. Room was also a bit cold due to the concrete floor, could do with a small run for when you’re stepping out of bed.
Great location and very helpful staff. The rooms are pretty funky, the industrial vibe was a nice change. But I wouldn’t recommend if you’re used to super clean 4 or 5 star hotels. But pretty spacious for Tokyo, nice big desk if you have to work.

AustraliaIt backs onto a sporting field, during the day you’ll hear them pretty easily, not a problem at night. You will hear your hotel neighbours pretty clearly! The shower curtain is about half as wide as it needs to be. I was a single traveller, I stayed in a small double room, which was big enough for just me. I couldn’t imagine sharing that bed for two. There was barely enough room to open my suitcase, it had to be packed up and vertical to get out the door. Not sure how two people would fare.
The hotel is in an amazing location about 5 minutes from Shinjuku South East exit. There are 3 convenience stores right there too. I booked the hotel knowing that it was not going to be luxury in anyway. If you expect your room to be industrial shabby chic, with interesting objects, its’s great. I would describe the quality as like a family holiday shack. Expect that and you’ll be happy! The wifi was fast, the staff were shy but cheerful and helpful, the towels get changed every day, there are washing machines and dryers. There are cool random objects always changing out the front and in the lobby, and a selection of art magazines. I enjoyed my stay here. The value is AMAZING if your are a single traveller in a small double room.

NetherlandsA bit more room or at least a bit bigger 2 persons bed. It looks great and is nice and cozy but for two people the bed was pretty small.
Perfect location near everything you want to do and see in Shinjuku and also really close to the big subway/train station. So it is perfect to travel to the rest of tokyo from this location as well.

ItalyThere is no elevator. This was not a problem for us as we had backpacks, but they can be hard to climb if you have a big suitcase.
The location is super convenient, literally five minutes on foot from Shinjuku station. Despite this, the place is super quiet and perfect for resting. The room was a tad small but had everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. They also let us keep our luggage there after checkout.
