Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanIf you don't live to sleep on buttons or tatami better to choose different place. Also, the location could be inconvenient for some people since it's located in the suburbs of Hiroshima (20-25 min by bus). For me it's not a problem but people with tons of luggage or small kids could struggle a little
This place is a hidden gem, I always recommend it when someone travels to Hiroshima. The rustic and traditional style of the house is nice and provide a nice environment to enjoy the nature surrounding the area. The house has tatami and you can experience sleeping on a futon. Kengo-san is an excellent host, I have been there 4-5 times and it's always a nice experience. The property can allow BBQ and camping but ask for details with the owner.

United StatesThe house is a little chilly but the room heater works very well.
Such a beautiful place to stay, very easy to get to from Hiroshima station. I loved getting to stay in a quieter part of Hiroshima. The guesthouse was so clean and quiet and peaceful. Phenomenal hike that's just a few minutes walk from the guesthouse that isn't too long and had stunning views. Highly, highly recommend!

FranceThe location is remoted but not too far from the city center just be aware that you need either a taxi a car or a bus ride to get there. The house is great, true japanese country house. Also the owner is a very nice guy he did call 2 taxis for us on the day of the check out because we were travelling with big luggages, he was even ready to drive us to the station himself if he couldn't find any.

United Kingdom88 House was in a beautiful location on a hill out of the city. A babbling stream flowing past I'm a rural area. The owners were kind and friendly. There were lots of Japanese artifacts and traditional Japanese games to play on a table with a heated rug underneath. Sadly we only stayed one night and wish we could have stayed longer. There was a shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.

AustraliaBathroom and kitchen are a tad cold but expected in winter months! If travelling by bus, the last bus to the accom departs the city at 10pm so options to get back may be limited if you’re planning to stay out further
Really well maintained, cosy and clean. The owners have a put a lot of thought and care into creating an authentic feel. Kengo was a lovely host who provided us all the information we needed at the start of the stay and was responsive throughout

FranceKengo’s guesthouse is exceptional. We had two great nights there, the house is traditional Japanese style with every equipment and confort you need. It’s a bit far from the center, but it give you the chance to spend some time in a quiet place, next to a little forest and a great garden. And Kengo was very welcoming and available.

NetherlandsThe road to reach the location from the bus stop has poor lighting. Since I have arrived in the evening (it was already dark), I solved it by using the light of my smartphone.
The house is located outside the city and in the nature, making it ideal for people who want to relax and enjoy the quiteness . The owner is very kind and welcoming person, always available in case of questions. Room and facilities are clean and well maintained.

AustraliaNothing everything was great.
The house is beautiful. Set next to a river in a really quiet area and only 30 mins by bus to the centre of Hiroshima. I stayed in a traditional styled room with tatami floors looking out to the yard and river. Kengo is such a great host and I really enjoyed chatting with him during my stay! Highly recommend.

JapanThe following it's not a problem for me but I it should be considered by people with huge luggage and/or children. The 88 House is about 25-30 min away from Hiroshima Station by bus and they pass every 20-25. This might be inconvenient for some people since also there's no bus after 10:30 PM (both ways)
I have stayed in 88 House 3-4 times and always has been a great experience. It's on the suburbs and you can experience something similar to a countryside life in Japan. The owner is an awesome person, always been there to help.

South AfricaThe microwave seemed to work but didn't heat our food. Or maybe I pressed the wrong button. It was very late so I didn't want to wake the host, but I am sure he would have come to help.
I liked the big house and my room and very comfortable bed (which had 3 pillows!). My brother enjoyed his traditional room and view. We were the only guests that night. I liked that each room has its own key so you don't have to worry about your belongings while you go out. The host lives in the house next door and he is very kind and friendly. The nature, river and trees around the house are wonderful. Unfortunately it was raining a lot so we couldn't go for a walk to enjoy it. The day before our arrival, the host was very kind and considerate to send us a message to warn us about the heavy rain and to offer us free cancellation, but I still wanted to stay there and I'm glad I didn't cancel. You can use everything in the kitchen and cook your own food. There are English labels on things like the aircon remote, the kitchen cupboards/drawers and which recycling bin to use. The house felt very cozy and comfortable and I liked the interior and posters on the walls, the piano and bookshelves. It felt like staying over at a friend's house.

We loved to stay at this traditional Japanese house, the common living room is so nice and there is a piano😍 the futon bed was very comfortable. I was a bit afraid before, as I am used to sleeping on soft mattresses. But it was great! There is a second mattress that you can tuck under the futon. We slept very well.

GermanyYou have to walk a bit from the train station (around 7 Minutes) through a neighborhood. So it’s best to have a map so you can find the guesthouse. Which you definitely will! Just be aware of that and in case you don’t have Internet prepare the walk beforehand.
Absolut recommend this guesthouse. You have your own private room but very wonderful shared living room, kitchen space, bathrooms and toilets and a terrace. The guest house is very much a homestay and feels super comfortable. You can book a room with beds or with futons. It’s not super close to the city center but you do get the feeling of living in a genuine Japanese neighborhood. Staff was super friendly, quick to respond and helpful. I believe that backpackers will be super duper happy here.
