Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAn outside shower to rinse off after a quick dip in the sea would be a bonus as the free beach showers were often busy. It would have been nice to park off the street but it is a limited traffic zone and felt very safe.
First of all the photos don’t do the property justice. It’s a beautiful old building where the interior design is a wonderful eclectic mix of modern, retro and antique which works well. Communication with the host was easy and informative with recommendations of where to visit. It was a lovely touch to have a welcome bottle of fizz and some nibbles. The villa is very well equipped, the beds are comfy (great linen too), one en-suite bathroom, one shared bathroom and a further downstairs bathroom. There is additional accommodation in a separate building in the grounds which has a comfortable bedroom and its own bathroom. This was a great place for our family friend to get away from the larger group! The air con throughout the villa was a great plus. The garden offers plenty of shade and there are various areas to sit together, or to find a quiet corner to read a book in peace. The immediate locality has a private beach within a 2-3 minute walk, and maybe 15 minutes walk to the nearest free beach. There is also a dog friendly beach within a short drive south of Viareggio. There is a geletaria and restaurant a street away. It’s possible to walk to the large supermarket (Esselunga) but a car is better. The villa is a good base to visit other towns. Lucca and Pisa were an easy visit.

RomaniaEverything was supe fine for our group of 8 but it's worth mentioning that while the villa is awesome for 8-10 people, bare in mind, the bathrooms are not allocated individually per each bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms at the 1st floor, one large and classically decorated main bathroom connected to the hallway and which can serve 3 bedrooms, and another individual bathroom which can be accessed through the 4th bedroom. There's a third bathroom (with wc&shower) at the ground floor. There's also another bathroom, outside of the main house and connected to the 5th bedroom in the independend compound of the backyard.
The location is superb, besides the fact that the beach is super close by, it makes it a good Hub if you're interested in visiting the region. The reception and communication with the host was delightfull. The villa is surrounded by meticulously manicured gardens with a big terrace in the back and nice leisure spots spreaded around, the rooms and the living area are spacious, well segmented and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has all you need for a 7 day stay. There's also a backyard compound with a 5th bedroom and it's own bathroom, for those that might look for more privacy. The whole compound, including the garden, is a overly pleasent spot to spend your holliday with your friends, a stone's throw to the beach.

United KingdomIt was all perfect :)
We were met at the door (and we were early!) by a lovely host with the keys, she helped with all the practical details of our house - a great start! The house was absolutely beautiful, fantastic style, roomy, modern and airy - the bathroom is spectacular - the showers were great and the ensuits were very useful , there was a granny flat that was extra and the enclosed gardens were magnificent! The hardest part was getting the kids to choose rooms because they were all different and special! The beach front was 2 minutes away on foot, I even walked down with a mug of coffee one morning! There are a huge choice of restaurants within walking distance which had choices to please everyone in our party, kids, growups and a vegetarian. We loved our stay in villa Italy- a little gated castle and a glorious italian break! Thank you :)
