Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe didn’t feel welcome!, staff were rather glum, spoiled the occasion given the cost and location. There were no umbrellas available in reception and we were told where we could purchase one. Not in keeping for 1000euro 3 night stay.

United StatesThere was hot tea and coffee available in the room but the coffee was instant Nescafé vs brewed. However there was cafe lattes and espresso available at breakfast.
A very quiet hotel just 10-15 minute walk from st Mark’s basilica. Our junior suite had a king bed, very tall elegently painted ceilings with beautiful antique furniture. With a step out to an amazing terrace overlooking the canal a great spot for morning coffee and evening wine. A stocked refrigerator,Bathroom and AC all modern and worked great. The gardens are beautiful with at least 3 private covered gazebo’s. There is a stop for the water taxi right at the hotels front door. Staff communicated well and arranged water taxis for to and from the hotel. Breakfast staff were hard working friendly and willing to help any way they could. Communication via text and email were very prompt.

United KingdomNothing other than the filter coffee at breakfast wasn't great - but machine coffee was good.
We'd loved the location and ambience of this hotel. A real hidden gem with a lovely garden which felt like an oasis and in a beautiful area of Venice which is away from the crowds. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us great restaurant recommendations and organised water taxi pick up and drop offs. We had the large attic room with a roof terrace with views across the roofs (see photos) and my daughter and her family had a very large family room with canal side terrace which worked very well for them.

United StatesThe place was cute. Breakfast was good. The grounds were very nice. The location was perfect for us. Just outside of the busy city center, yet just a 10-15 minute walk to most of the main tourist attractions. You're surrounded by excellent food and fascinating history to enjoy. It was a great experience.

BrazilThe hotel installations are dated, deserving a complete refurbishment (fortunately the air conditioning works well), including a new decoration, that could be nice without losing the local character. The hotel structure, space and site in the hands of a good architect would jump up many steps. Staff in general should be more professional. The general impression is someway decadent.
The hotel is well sited in the channel net of old Venice, at a 15 min walking distance from the nearest vaporetto station and Piazza San Marco, with many restaurants around. The property is a former palazzo, with an internal garden that is a small paradise in the middle of Venice, in my opinion a place that is someway wasted by the owners, as a suggestion it could have more use than a simple view from the breakfast area (a café/bar for the guests?), without losing its beauty and silence of the garden, one of the Venice traditions.

United StatesMy only complaint was that the Wi-Fi in my room rarely worked. The gentleman at the front desk tried to help me with it, but it continued to be an issue.
This hotel is in an excellent location. It’s just outside the real hustle and bustle of Venice, but with an easy walking distance of every place you would want to see. It’s a very pretty property with gardens and a lovely courtyard. Staff, especially the front desk, was extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomNot the fault of the hotel, but we had to take precautions against mosquitoes in the garden!
Well located within easy reach of main areas of Venice and public transport. Comfortable, characterful hotel, antique furnishings, but modern large bed and well appointed modern bathroom. Air conditioning effective and very quiet. Brilliant and friendly staff and with a delightful garden that was a selling point for us. Somewhere peaceful to sit after a busy day sightseeing.

United StatesWe were first put in the room in front of the hotel. The condenser leaking creating a large puddle of water in the floor. We were moved to a beautiful room for the remainder of the trip.
The front desk gentlemen offered me coffee in the afternoon. He also helped load our luggage in the water taxi.

AustraliaWe were stayed in the attic room with beams and low ceilings. Bumped our heads a lot. So I would probably choose a different room. I booked the room very early so not sure why I was given it. I’m guessing because I wanted single beds.
I loved its location. Not far from San Marco. Great bars restaurants. Felt safe walking back late at night. Water taxi at front door. Beautiful garden to enjoy having breakfast.

United StatesThere was nothing we didn't like.
Fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. Joey welcomed us and upgraded our room to a superior with an amazing private terrace overlooking the canal. The room was large and comfortable. We enjoyed a glass of wine each night sitting on the terrace. The hotel also has a beautiful garden, and it was so nice sitting in the breakfast room overlooking the garden each morning. It was such a special place to end our month in Italy and our 40th anniversary celebration. Location was close to everything, but we weren't in the middle of the crowds surrounding the square.
