We absolutely loved our stay at Picobello Lago. The room far exceeded our expectations, it was a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen. The decor was stunning, we loved the location of the hotel and the town of Mandello del Lario. We had free parking at the hotel, the staff were incredibly helpful and responsive with our questions and helped us find parking in Varenna and Bellagio. They even let us use their washing machine and airer to wash some of our clothes. There was also a beautiful little landscaped garden where we sat and had a drink and some snacks when we arrived. Stunning! Nothing was too big or difficult, they were amazing hosts. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anybody who will listen!

The property is located in a small town so there isn’t much going on around it. You just have to be aware about your timing and what things are open for breakfast/dinner/etc.

The property was clean, cozy and comfortable! It is perfect for solos and couples that want to stay in a cute and quiet place on the lake. Kaja, the owner, is very kind and helpful.

The room was very clean and spacious. The pictures honestly do not do it justice - the property is gorgeous. A special thank you to Kaja who made our stay seamless and went above and beyond for us, from letting us leave our luggage in the property when we arrived earlier than expecting, helping us with transport and even kindly dropping us to the train station when it was raining. We can’t wait to visit Lake Como again and stay at your lovely property.

The location is great but not much around - you have to travel to lecco or como if you want more options for restaurants or bars.

Picobello Lago is an excellent place to stay who wants quiet area but easy access all famous locations by train. Our apartment felt like new and everything you could think of was provided. Hosts are easy to communicate with and provided us with additional tips for worth visit places and restaurants. Very easily accessible by train from Milan and easy to access famous locations around the lake.

Noisy neighbors in other rooms, the house is either wooden or with thin walls because you can hear everyone walking on the stairs etc.

If you are looking for the best view on lake Como- here u a! Modern and new hotel with big window and terrace with adorable view! We all travel to experience different cultures and see beauties of other countries or parts of it. Everyone is different which is what makes it exciting. We are not Italians and as such we have different customs. We eat continental breakfast (bread, ham, cheese, tomato etc). When we were having our breakfast downstairs someone made us feel a little uncomfortable by commenting on what we ate because it was different and not their usual breakfast. I'm sure it wasn't intentional but sometimes it's better to say nothing.

Lovely quiet location compared to Varenna/Bellagio/Como/Leco). We had a room with a balcony with nice views. There is a common area with a large table in the lower ground with access to a garden with seats. This property comes with parking spaces which are outside at the back of the property. The room has a couple of plates, caps, glasses, cutlery, kettle, tea, coffee machine with coffee. This room doesn't have a kitchen which I didn't realise when booking but that was my mistake. However the hosts let us use a private kitchen downstairs for breakfast preparation which was very helpful. They also gave us recommendations about restaurants, parking, what to see and were happy to help with anything. The bed was comfortable with good quality bedding and one large duvet to share. Most of the restaurants have siestas/breaks at various times between 14 - 18 (times differ) and are closed. We arrived at Mandello on Monday at 14:00 and all restaurants were already closed even though Google stated some are open until 3pm. We went to a place that made sandwiches. We were driving a car and traveled to several places. One of them was Varena (extremely busy already at the end of April, bear this in mind as the number of people was enormous) so we were happy that Mandello del Lario was a quiet town. The ferry from Mandello goes twice a day on some days. If you want to take it plan in advance and book your tickets online as they sell out quickly. There are also buses and trains. Roads are narrow. If you are not a skilled driver taking public transport might be less stressful. As we traveled to different parts around the lake we paid between 1.50€ to 3€ per hour for parking. The touristic towns are very busy and a lot of parking is full. You may need to take a few rounds before you find anything.

Everything was perfect from the moment we saw the building. Kaja (the owner) is very detail oriented person and you can see that this place is top quality. The apartments are very clean, anything that you need is in there. Kitchen with living room and small balcony was ideal for quick lunch or late dinner. Bathroom was clean with towels change every few days. Bedroom with separate wardrobe and big bed plus small desk was ideal for us. Kaja was very helpful on every step of our vacation. Really recommend this place as we definitely would like to get back here. Absolutely top quality!

Everything was perfect, if I have to be more strict I would say that sometimes the wifi connection was low

The host was really helpful, she even send us some places to go for food and full instructions for check in. She offered us a welcome drink and some snacks. Also the view was amazing, you could see the mountain and it was pretty close to the train station and the lake. It is a very quiet neighborhood and we felt very safe every hour of the day. I would definately recommend it to spend vacation there!

It wasn't a deal-breaker for us, but keep in mind that there are no lifts at Picobello nor at the local station and if you intend to arrive or leave by train, you might have to take your luggage up or down a flight of stairs, depending on the platform.

We had the nicest stay at Picobello. Our room was very spacious and impeccably designed, with a view of the mountains plus our own little balcony. Kaja, one of the hosts, welcomed us and gave us lots of useful tips on how to get around (they have even set up a corner by the entrance with some booklets and guidebooks). In the room we found complimentary sweets and infusions and while we didn't have a kitchen, we had everything else we could need for a meal: a mini fridge, plates, cutlery, cups and napkins. We also appreciated that they had left some umbrellas for the guests to borrow, as we got some rainy days. As for the location, while Mandello isn't exactly one of the most touristic spots, we actually liked it as a getaway from the hustle of other towns along the lake. It still remains perfectly comfortable to get around: you can take direct trains to Varenna, Bellano, Lecco and Milan, or a ferry to Bellagio or Lecco and from there to Tremezzo, Menaggio, Lenno and many more! Picobello itself is just a short walk from both the train and the ferry stations (about 10 min) and just 5 mins from the lake. There's also a number of restaurants close by, and we particularly liked the bakery on Via Alessandro Manzoni (I'd say don't leave without trying their pistacchio cannoli or the mushroom pizza, but really everything was superb and fairly priced.)

Amazing place with a super lovely host who gave us a lot of recommendations and was always up for a chat. Big, comfortable and modern room with own balcony as well as several common areas (balcony, garden, living room). Good value for money and loved the location in one of the calmer, more authentic towns around lake Como. Would love to come back!
