Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHard to find , but worth it. The GPS in this area of Sicily is not wholly reliable. If you were here for more than a few days and wanted to eat out elsewhere at night it can be a bit of a drive to other towns, Ragalna being the closest.
Room was well appointed and the breakfast and dinner complex was stunning. We were fortunate to have dinner the first night downstairs in the room cut out of the lava rock. Dinner the second night upstairs and it is set up to be able to chat to fellow travelers. Location was great for a few days , isolated but close enough to some interesting parts of Mt Etna. Owner is extremely helpful and obviously proud of his establishment.Lots of great hikes in the area.

RomaniaGiuseppe prepared our breakfast, our dinner and we later found out that he practically built and owns the place. If he sees my review, I just hope that me saying "you are a model for me " was said thinking to a role model in life, a person that inspires. Perfect location for local walks in the forest, or close to Etna hikes starting points.

United StatesLocanda Milia is a labor of love by its owners, with every detail carefully crafted to create a cozy and enchanting atmosphere. Set in a peaceful forest on Etna, it feels like a hidden gem, and we would love to return in the winter to experience it with snow. The ambience is magical, especially at night when tea lights are placed all around the property, making outdoor dining feel incredibly special. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with comfy beds, and the staff is always helpful. The home-cooked dinners and breakfasts in the onsite restaurant are fantastic, and the location is perfect—just a quick 10-minute drive to the start of Etna hikes and the gondola. A truly unforgettable stay!
Locanda Milia is a clear work of love by the owners, the attention to detail and design are impeccable, and to top it off it's set in a magical forest setting on Etna, such a unique and peacful atmosfere unlike anywhere we've state. Incredibly clean, comfy beds, helpful staff, and amazing home cooked dinners and breakfasts in the onsite restaurant.

NorwayReally nothing to say.
The unique athmosphere, the luxury mixed with down to earth vibe and most of all : lovely personelle. This is one of those hidden gems that will stick to you. I tell everybody about this place who are going to Sicily. The wine cellar is cooled by the natural temperature there, built into the rocks. The restaurant has amazing food. They have two tame foxes😍 All day long you can hear to boulder from mother Etna, and we were lucky to see lava eruption when we were there in July. I also think this place is wonderful in any season. All the details makes you wonder around, hammocks outside. Fresh food and snack. It’s up in the mountain so the air is fresher than on the beach. I loved it here- I loved the energy. I really got to relax.

SwitzerlandCommon spaces are limited, which may become problematic with prolonged bad weather.
Very friendly and welcoming staff, good menu with local food for dinner - possibly tailored to your dietary requirements. Located in a very peaceful part of the Etna woodlands, ideal for excursions and bike rides in the Etna area.

United KingdomThere is no air conditioning in the locanda. I don't know about the other rooms, but our room didn't have windows we could open, apart from the small window in the bathroom. We had to keep the sliding door open at night for the fresh air, and it didn't feel comfortable being located on the ground floor.
The place is as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures. Quite remote, and it takes a while to get there. Being halfway on the slope of Etna and in the forest creates a fantastic atmosphere and warmth. The rooms and the restaurant are tastefully decorated with a hint of luxury. The beds are large and comfortable, the bedding is good, there's number of pillows to choose from. Everything is new and clean.

GermanyThe location is extraordinary in the middle of a wonderful wood. The owner and the complete team are awful nice and we will never forget the time with this team. There are occasion's in your life you can not buy with money. For example, we've been invited to the Rifugio St Barbara for lunch, in the background a fire-breathing vulcano and in front of us the best Salsiccia in Italy (thanks to Peppe). Best you will try it by your self because as the some poets found out already a long time ago: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". Therefore visit Locanda Milia and feel it.

GermanyBe aware of Mosquitos. Have some repellent with you.
At the foothills of the mighty Etna in Sicily lies a hidden gem, the "Locanda Milia." A place where the warmth of hospitality is as scorching as the Sicilian sun, and the service, impeccable. We read some comments stating the team here won’t just go the extra mile, but they would sprint it, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to satisfy their guests. And yes – it’s all true, they've certainly left an indelible mark on my traveler's heart and I traveled across the world quite a bit in the last 25 years. From Locanda Milia, the world becomes your oyster. Famous sights like Taormina, Syracuse, and Enna are just a scenic drive away, perfect for a day filled with exploration and adventure. But what truly sets this haven apart is the serene tranquility that washes over you when you return in the late afternoon. It's a place where some chaos of the world dissolves into a tranquil melody of chilled vibes. The location is nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled on the south side of the majestic Etna in a patch of forest that survived past eruptions, it's a symphony of nature's finest notes, super silent. It’s also just perfect for a super convenient day trip to Etna and cable car station “Refugium Sapienza”. The interior is a symphony of chic, elegance, and soothing ambiance, with an eye for details. Room service was splendid, they even decalcified the kettle after a week, never had this experience during my past global traveling. And then there's the restaurant. Even for us vegetarians, there was a delightful array of options to choose from. The flavors of some traditional local dishes danced on our tongues, others had been very happy and pleased by pork knuckles. Whether you crave the robustness of local meats or the delicacy of vegetables, Locanda Milia has it all. In sum, it's not just a hotel, it's an experience. This is the stuff of memorable journeys, and I, for one, will remember its essence forever.
