Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe shower wasn't powerful, came out slowly, and the air conditioning didn't always work, and if it did, it kept going off after 20 minutes.

United StatesThe room for the four of us (Married couple with two adult children) was small. It was about the size of a large bedroom in a residential house in the United States. The accommodation was a hybrid between a hotel (there was excellent daily room service) and a vacation rental. Except for when we checked in, we did not see any staff there during the rest of our stay although they did respond quickly via text. I think this was an old large Roman apartment that they remodeled into several small hotel-like rooms and the staff were there only during check-in time, typical of a short-term vacation rental. However, there was daily room service as described. The location was about a 20-minute walk from the main tourist destinations in Rome (Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain). However, it was very close to the main Rome train station and it was easy to leave for Florence and to use the Metro system. If I go to Rome again, I would stay closer to the main tourist areas of Rome. Nevertheless, we did enjoy this location.
The check-in process was easy. A member of their staff met us at the hotel/apartment and checked us in. What was a little confusing was the address they have listed, which is I presume their business address, is slightly different from the accommodation address. However, they texted me while we were en route in the taxi from the airport with the accommodation address where we were supposed to meet. The location was very close to the main Rome train/metro station. Using the Rome Metro and leaving to go to Florence from Rome was very easy. The hotel room was small. I wished it had been a little bigger. One excellent aspect was the air conditioning which was important since there was a heat wave in Rome. We were constantly overheated by the time we made it back to the room but we could quickly bring the room down to a cool, even cold temperature The location was about two blocks from St. Maria Maggiore Basilica, which is one of the seven pilgrimage churches in Rome

United KingdomNoise was a problem : even though there is double glazing, it does not keep out the sound of motorbikes and speeding cars at night. I can just about live with that. But there are three other rooms in the property and three times I was woken by inconsiderate noisy visitors arriving well after 10pm : twice after midnight and once at 5.30am! I had to get up to ask people to be quiet... For me this was annoying. For the residents who live in the block, it is intolerable. I spoke with some who were really upset to be woken after midnight "at 1.30am" by some people who were staying in room 825 - it has a balcony. Of course one is complicit in the takeover of residential blocks in popular cities, by renting rooms like mine. At the very least one should observe the written rules in the flat to be quiet after 10pm. When Roman residents cannot rent or buy property in their own city because holiday rental companies can afford to pay more with substantial profits generated by short-term lets, is it time to say no? One consequence of this tendency is that the very thing one travels for - living in a foreign community, getting to know people - is becoming less and less likely as locals move out and tourists flood in. The residential blocks at this end of Giovanni Lanza are under occupied by Italian people and over populated with tourists to the detriment of the whole area.
Between S Prassede and S Martino ai Martiri, the location was good. Within a 10 minute walk of Termini station, yet at the same time very close to the Colle Opio. The bed was comfortable, but the circular shape would have been awkward if I had not been alone. I enjoyed having breakfast in the bar in front of S Maria Maggiore, but 'renegotiated' what was being offered, having a spremuta and nuclear strength coffee instead. The view from my window down Giovanni Lanza was good. Having a fridge was one of the reasons for choosing the room. It wasn't big, but adequate for a week's stay. Having a post office close by was also useful. Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is closer than Termini station, so it takes no time to get to the Metropolitana (linea A). I was happy to stay there in spite of the anxiety induced by the necessity to remember the entry code and ensure one always had the door key and electronic room passkey on board! The young man who cleaned the rooms was likeable and Shuvo efficient in meeting me outside to let me in, thanks.

United KingdomThe walls aren’t entirely soundproof in the deluxe double room, so I sometimes heard the guests next door (maybe twice in two weeks).
Really fantastic location, being close to everything but in a quieter part of Monti. The breakfast (at Bar Cottini) was larger than expected: you get a cappuccino, cornetto and tramezzino. All the staff at Bar Cottini and Paul at the B&B were fantastic. The shower in particular is excellent, with a regular shower head, three wall jets and a rainfall head. I’d stay here again!

United KingdomThis is not a hotel (and this wasn't clear on the booking ads!), and we found this just a day before we arrived, so it was hard to change. The breakfast is not on site and they will give you a voucher, including ONLY sandwich, 1 Croissant and 1 drink, you have to walk around 5 minutes to a bar to have your meal called Cottini Bar. The bar staff weren't helpful once seen your voucher they would give you a long face!! There is no variety at all, and you might consider paying to choose other meals (as we have done!) So, I don't think taking breakfast as extra is a good idea. The other downside is the paking! If you decide to hire a rented car in Rome , the parking is a nightmare! As the this hotel or B&B doesn't offer a parking space. You have to carry 3 keys every time in addition to the room card! But good thing they are in order . The last thing is the lift! The capacity for only 2 people and I found it hard to get to the flat when you carry your luggage , you need to find a way.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. His name is Paul, and even he sent me a WhatsApp text asking about the details of the arrival. The room is spacious and clean . There are plenty of fresh drinks (tea with different flavours) Quiet and safe .

EstoniaIt was not exactly what I expected. Yes it is not a hotel, which is clear, but.. It seems like you're sharing one apartment with other guests. No sound isolation at all!! You can hear EVERYTHING happening in all other rooms the same time. You literally feel presence of other people. Cleaners at mornings very loud. So there was no privacy at this place. Definitely something to improve. All the rest was good.
Great location, comfortable room with good facilities. Clean. Polite manager and possibility for early check-in.

BelgiumThe room was not really well insulated for noise, both from other rooms as for the (busy) street. There was airco available, but we did not find instructions on how to use it. The first evening we did not have warm water to shower, probably because it was turned off since no one was there the week (or weeks) before. The breakfast was not at the B&B itself (probably because of low-season) but we got vouchers for breakfast at bar Cottini, where the staff was not really all that friendly towards people coming with B&B vouchers...
The rooms were very clean (daily cleaning and swapping of towels), the B&B was located close to the Colosseum and other touristic sightings. The bathroom was really nice and modern. The wifi was of very good quality, and there was tea, coffee and water available for use. The staff was easy to contact and they provided plenty of feedback on how to reach the place from the station.
