Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceNothing to say here. Exceptional;)
Unique stay. Junior suite was lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly. Great breakfast included. Nothing was too much trouble. Dogs cannot go on the venicular unless muzzled, but it was okay. I walked up with the dog, it's a bit of a hike but it was worth it. Visit the wine bar in the old part of the fort for a glass and a charcuterie board...was fabulous!

United KingdomWhat a fantastic place to stay. Fort Bard was a place we always saw from the motorway in past years and this year decided to stay there. It was an excellent choice and loved every minute of it

United KingdomOnly one little thing, I think there should be some free bottles of water in the room as there is nowhere to buy anything other than the mini bar.
The property and location were amazing, we loved it. Booked it the day before as a stop over on our journey home, it’s was a lucky pick as it was one of the best experience I’ve had. The lifts, the view and the lovely little town to have dinner in were great. Breakfast was lovely. I wished I could have stayed longer.

The smallest hotel I have ever seen! 11 rooms only! Clean, comfortable and amazing experience to stay in the fort! Staff was very helpful but only on reception you can expect good English. Better Italian or French. If you just stop expecting Hilton service, then you will really enjoy to stay there.

AustriaIt was a truly magical stay. The staff is amazing, the location is unique. Beautiful, huge rooms. We attended a concert in Forte di Bard, which was virtually right in the courtyard next door to our room - brilliant! Breakfast was also really good. All in all, an unforgettable experience!

United StatesThis hotel is located on the top of Fort Bard and a short walk or lift ride from the village. The room was clean, spacious and well designed. The thick walls of the Fort insulated us well from the marching band’s performance on the night of our stay. Staff is friendly and helpful, and provided a delicious breakfast.

FranceNo English speaking channels at all on the TV. Better communication needed about where to park : you should use the multi storey under the fort. Take the lift up to the fort from the top floor of the car park. Your ticket will be validated at check-in so that parking is free.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. Room HUGE and clean. Photos do not do it justice! Fun to take the funicular lifts up to the hotel. Restaurants within walking distance. Staff friendly and helpful.

New ZealandWe had trouble connecting to the wifi. It required a registration process, which would then send login details. Our data was not strong, and we didn't receive the message. Cinzia helped us out, going to a lot of trouble - most appreciated. We were sorry that we had arrived so late and didn't have time in the morning either to visit the museum.
A different experience from the places we had stayed in. We were met at the entrance to the carpark and were expecting us, which was a relief as we were running late. There was a concert in part of the fort so I think it was more likely that there were staff down there for that rather than it being normal. We went up the lift to ground level and there was a short walk to the first of the four fort lifts. There was a short walk between lifts. We were met by Cinzia (I think) who was delightful. She explained everything, showed us where breakfast would be and took us up to our room. Our room was very quiet with 2.5m thick walls. It was spacious with a comfortable king bed, armchair, desk and chair. The shower was over the bath. Breakfast was good with cereal, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, bread for toasting, spreads, several types of pastries and a sweet tart. When leaving, we could have been driven down the zigzag road, walk down, go in the lifts again or walk some and take the lifts for some.

AustraliaNo Bar or restaurant in the castle, you had to go to the old town to eat and drink, which when the lift isn’t working can be a long walk down and back up again
Amazing feeling of staying in a castle, hotel staff were excellent. The room while modern kept the theme of ancient times with a four post bed.

ItalyI have an advice, more than what I didn't like .... my suggestion is to add the chance for the guest for grabbing some food at the cafeteria.
