Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAll was great!
Location, staff and room were all exceptional! Stefano, Marco and staff made sure we had everything we needed and were available and so helpful from the moment we arrived until the minute we departed - truly phenomenal service. Location was perfect for us as it was close enough to all but away from the craziness of San Marco, plus easy & close to ferry station to access and travel to/ from train station. Our room was very comfortable with a wonderful view of the water and Main Street. Breakfast was delicious and with even better views to start your day. Highly recommend!!

United KingdomFor me, I would like a more comfortable mattress, I am always happy if there is a good quality memory foam.
The location is great, especially for the Bienalle. I had a lovely view from my window. The room was comfortable, not that big but that’s fine as everything is there and well set out. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were very helpful.

IrelandThe Location, the room (501, the terrace has the best view in the city), and the staff were wonderful. Stefano and his colleagues were professional, friendly, and helpful. The surrounding area is calm and peaceful compared to other areas in Venice, and the Arsenale Vaporetto (If arriving by train) , and Alilaguna airport shuttle boat (If by plane) stop more or less outside. Highly recommended - It's a treat, but what is it that they say about money - you can't take it with you when you go...

Like the quiet part of town, away from the square. Marco was great staff and nice to speak with. Great restaurant recommendations and solid food.

GuernseyThere was nothing that we didn't like.
The view is absolutely amazing, not to mention the sun sets and location. For us an easy walk from St Mark's Square. We had to extend our stay at the hotel for several days due to an injury, and even had to call in a doctor. In this case the staff were incredible and did their upmost to keep us in the same room for as long as possible. My only gripe is that the shower is over a bath in some rooms, which made it difficult due to my injury - not the hotel's fault though of course. Stefano and his team were incredibly helpful and very understanding of our situation. They even lent us a wheelchair at no extra cost, which I can tell you, made my stay with my injury far more tolerable! To be able to go out and about made all the difference to me and my husband, who by his own admittance, had had enough of enjoying Venice alone after a couple of days. When we go next time, we will definitely be staying at the Hotel Bucintoro again.

CanadaThe shower in our room was in a jacuzzi bath which seems outdated. While it was fine for us, it could be difficult for someone with any mobility issues to get in and out.
It was a convenient location yet a bit farther away from the crowds so it was a pleasant environment to return to. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a good selection and was delicious!

GermanyIn addition to my previous comment on this hotel i would like to add that the reception manager is of utmost hospitality and he reacted immediately to all our concerns. As he was not in the house on our day of departure we were unable to speak to him personally but we have done so in the meantime. All issues are matters that can be resolved as they are very peculiar issues we discussed. Otherwise this hotel is a gem and we will surely love to come back in November. Thank You for giving us all the attention and giving us best tips for restaurants nearby.

United StatesThe boat parked in front of hotel.
The location is a bit out of the way from the center of Venice, but in August we found that appealing! We avoided the crowds and noise while the walk to St. Mark's Square was less than 10 minutes. The Arsenale vaporetto stop is just 400 feet from the hotel, also making it easy to go anywhere. The rooms overlook the Grand Canal, but a large luxury boat was parked in front of the hotel so some of our rooms had their view blocked. The rooms are lovely, very clean, and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable; the bathrooms had great showers and were a good size. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They made excellent restaurant recommendations, made our reservations, and then called to confirm the reservations and table locations for us. Breakfast was plentiful and you could eat inside or outside. An oasis in the bustle of Venice in August.

United KingdomNothing!
Everything! But especially the roof terrace, which simply made our trip to Venice. We had splurged to have this room and it was so worth it. An oasis in a busy, hot city in August, we watched the sunset, relaxed on the roof, and marvelled at the incredible view. And the room was perfect and spacious too! A real 5 star experience.
