Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt's Europe, and a 500 year old building so expect stairs. We found the entrance a little hard to find (although it was pouring rain, so that made it more difficult).
This quirky little hotel is in a 500 year old building and each room is decorated in the theme of an artist. We had the Michaelangelo room and really enjoyed it. There was plenty of space for us and we liked the provided breakfast. It was easy walking distance to see Michaelangelo's David, the Uffizi Gallery and the centre of town. It was also an easy walk from the train station. There were lots of places to eat nearby and also a laundromat (staying on top of the washing becomes of great interest when you travel with children for six weeks!).

AustraliaThe room was very very very small with very narrow beds. I didn’t realise you could get such narrow beds and mattresses. The mattresses sunk in the middle, so not good for backs. Our private bathroom was across the dining room, so we needed to leave our room to get to it. Our room also opened up straight into the dining room which felt so weird opening our door and people sitting eating can look straight in, and you have to pass them to go to the shower or toilet. Also breakfast starts at 8 am but they started prepping for it at 5am- and as the dining room is immediately there you can hear all the preparations. Breakfast was very very basic. That’s ok, it’s not a high cost hotel but don’t expect choice. You get a croissant, two rolls, juice, cappuccino and jams/butter. Oh, and you have to carry your bags up 60 steps to get to the accommodation.
Location is very good, within walking distance of the train station and many restaurants and sites. The staff were friendly and helpful.

SwitzerlandNo Working Heater. Even the Hair Dryer was melted because guests before used it for heating. I got sick because on the next day also the promised Air condition was broken for heating. Window did not close properly and the bathroom is together with the shower. So constantly under water and tiny.

LithuaniaThe room sound isolation is terrible! Personal doing dishes at 5 AM. you can hear everything what is in hall and people could hear you. Table for guests are in front of room door, so when you are leaving room they can see you if you for example are getting dressed up.. About the personal I could not say anything good either.. Lady in reception was very rude and impolite. Before leaving she rushed me, even I was late just 10 min.. And after that she asked for room payment.. funny it was already paid by card automatically by Booking.com few days ago, but I think she wanted to get more ,,profit" from me because maybe I looked like a naive tourist .. I needed to prove her otherwise by showing bank statement .. So be careful not get in trap!!
The interior and old building had potential, but there is no single effort to expose it..

IrelandBed was hard and uncomfortable. Is located on second floor with no lift and lacks hand rails in many areas. Toilet and shower shared the same 2m², shower was on tiles that weren't flat making slipping very dangerous. Breakfast was right outside the rooms, the rooms had no soundproofing. If you slept in, your room wouldn't be cleaned.
Air conditioning was good.

United StatesThe biggest issue was the bathroom. The toilet, sink, shower, and bidet (really just a hand held hose) were all in the same 4 foot by 4 foot room with a curtain separating the shower and sink from the toilet. It was very difficult to take a decent shower, and I'm a relatively petite person. It's certainly not elderly friendly. The room was also up several flights of stairs with no elevator, so carrying luggage was very difficult. There was some disorganization with keys being left in the wrong spot after cleaning the room, and the toilet flush button kept breaking. This is a great place for the location, but staying here more than one or two nights is not recommended. They advertise laundry services, but this is just a self service laundromat down the street. Be aware that they may not have everything that they advertise.
The decor was very nice, it definitely gave it a special touch. They also cleaned every day which wad nice. The absolute best part was the location. We were walking distance from just about everything, with a lovely gelato and caffeteria close by. Our room was ready early, which was very convenient.

GermanyIncredibly uncomfortable beds, the room did not feel very clean. There was construction on the floor above us, and our ceiling leaked through the night. When we weren’t sure how to find the hotel or the parking, we had to call. The manager was clearly annoyed when we had to call a second time, and while I don’t speak Italian, I did nanny a teenaged Italian boy so I’m aware of the curse words. Before he hung up our second call I heard him swear at me in Italian. The female worker was kind, but no employees were at the hotel after 2 pm at the latest each day. The hotel was just on one level of a larger building, which is part of what made it confusing to find. Also, we all got tons of bites after our first night here and continued to get more each day. It could have been mosquitoes, but my money is on bed bugs.
The location was convenient and pet friendly.
