Only 6 or 8 rooms have a view of the valley. Their claim on the Booking.com site that the rooms have a mountain view is false. Mountain view (i.e. Kanchenjunga view) is not available in any hotel this side of the town. Hotel space was quite limited, rooms were just about okay. Climbing up and down the stairs several times a day was a big pain. Food was good, but very costly, even compared to the best restaurants in the mall.

Location was good, close to city center. Our room which was changed on 6th May had good view of the valley. Staff was smiling and helpful. Check out was smooth. Breakfast was good and served on time.

Great modern room, fantastic decor, good spread of breakfast and dinner.

The room had a poor view.

The 19th century hotel has not surrendered its old-world charm while introducing modern amenities. The rooms are big, comfortable. The staff is courteous. The food was good, but the menu lacked surprises. A couple of off-beat dishes, especially soup, would have added to the occasion.

Staff behaviour at the dining hall+ upkeep of the dining area which seems to have rapidly deteriorated after the owner, Mr.Diamonds unfortunate passing away.

Everything except the staff in the dining hall(, their rude behaviour and total disregard for basic norms ) was as good

I know it's a Heritage hotel but there is a lot of damp and all rooms are very poorly heated. Had to wear clothes to bed to keep warm

I had no concerns. It did get a little cold as the mist was down but someone was on hand to turn up the radiator and (rather charmingly) provide a hot water bottle to warm the bed

Colonial style hotel close to the heart of Darjeeling. Pleasant and helpful staff. Food was good (buffet in the evenings) and good willing service overall

It was a little cold at times, I had spa treatment and room was cold.

Heritage feel. It was cosy returning after days out. Fires were lit and hot water bottles given at bed time.

Did not have any breakfast as we generally don't. The overall ambience of the premises still retaining the "days of the raj"I felt was the attraction of the place.

I wish the bed was a double bed instead of a queen bed . The size of the bed was bit too small and cramped up.

Loved the decor and ambiance. Bar was the most pretty bar I've been to ever. Breakfast spread was fantastic.

The room next to mine was being decorated and refurbished.There was banging during the day and smell of paint everytime I came out or returned to my room.

It was a lovely heritage hotel , decor and furniture from bygone era.

My Husband and I stayed at the Elgin for few days in January. This was a great stay in a lovely historical Hotel. The staff was friendly and professional. The room view on the city was superb. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable.

The wifi was passable, but I wished could have been better. The hotel views are away from Kanchenjunga, although the lovely view of Darjeeling goes a long way towards compensating for this loss.

Clean and comfortable rooms in a heritage property, very close to the center of Darjeeling but still quiet and secluded, wonderful staff, this hotel had it all. When we wanted an off-menu dish for dinner the staff obliged.

Food is not up to the standard. Book this hotel without a meal plan. During winter, the bathroom jet spray is an issue. The water gets icy cold.

the selection at the b'fast buffet is limited. Few more items need to be introduced to have a good spread..(a wholesome English B'fast). That, would compliment with the decor and ambiance of the place.

We, stayed at the 'New Tenzing Norgay Wing'. Like all Elgin Group hotels, it has 'old world charm' of a bygone era of gracious living.. the location is just below the Mall Road and Chowrasta. Brisk walk up of 5 mins and you are in Chowrasta, the hub of Darjeeling.
