There was nothing specific that we didn’t like. However, it’s also very Eco friendly to promote vegetarianism. So it’s a good idea to include more vegetarian food in your menu. Specifically when we want to order at the table and not go for the buffet

We have stayed at the Spice Village on 3 occasions now and will certainly be back the whole village has a great atmosphere beautiful gardens, staff are great very well trained and friendly, great old fashion Bar, decorated with old photographs of years gone by very tastefully done, cafe had the best chicken sandwich for lunch.. dinner buffet was great choice of tasty Indian food... accommodation very clean and well serviced...

An exceptional hotel. We were warmly welcomed and every member of staff was delightful. Excellent management, and it shone out through the team. Fabulous buffet at breakfast and in the evening. Friendly and fun cookery demonstrations. Lovely atmospheric colonial stye bar. Lovely pool. Quiet, well spaced out luxuriously appointed bungalows in the midst of nature. Absolutely the best hotel we stayed at during our 6 weeks in India.

The staff were all excellent as were the accommodation and facilities.The resort arranged a tour to the Periyar Tiger reserve which was a great experience and the accompanied by Maneesh. ranger gave us so much useful and interesting information.We also toured the gardens with Ashley the naturalist which was so interesting. Manoj , Ranju and all the staff made us so welcome. Thank you to Geo for the beautiful drawing and Mr Francis for the snooker and tennis games. ...............................................

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff behaving like family member. The food was good, but not the best I’ve had in Kerala. We went for the buffet dinner on all 3 nights as the food in the other restaurant (50 mile) seemed to be spicy and more focused on meat than fish (given the understandable limitation of being able to procure fish from the 50 mile radius). The quality of the buffet was a bit inconsistent - it was great the first night, much less so the second, and a bit improved the third. Breakfast was also quite good, but nothing exceptional. The mattress in the room could have been a bit better - as with the food, I wouldn’t say this was a major issue, but it feels like an easy thing to fix.

Beautiful property, they take their eco responsibilities very seriously. Staff are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. In particular the lady who checked us in and introduced us to the property (I believe her name was Shireen) was very good. It’s clear that the staff enjoy working there. They also have a great team of naturalists (Abhijith and Manish in particular were really great) who helped organise and accompany us on some excursions (a 3 hour hike in the Periyar reserve, as well as an off road expedition in a jeep) The spa is absolutely amazing - all the therapists were great, the quality of the massages / facials were very good and they used excellent products. We used it extensively and one person in our group was quite demanding / capricious (and doesn’t speak any English) and they still went out of the way to accommodate all her requests.

The bar is closed on the 1st of every month, and the boundaries of the property open up onto slightly less aesthetically pleasing developments that have encroached on this heritage location.

The perfect location if trekking or visiting the National Park. The resort allows nature to do the hard work, and the sunken thatched bungalows and traditional vernacular is understatedly brilliant. The staff were all excellent.
