Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaI recently stayed at the Dutch Bungalow in Fort Kochi, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This charming heritage hotel is a perfect blend of colonial architecture and modern comforts. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully decorated, reflecting the rich history of the place while providing all the modern amenities one could need. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The service was impeccable, making me feel truly valued as a guest. The on-site restaurant offered a delightful array of local and international dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. One of the highlights of my stay was the location. Situated in the heart of Fort Kochi, the Dutch Bungalow is within walking distance of many of the area's top attractions, including the famous Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, and the vibrant local markets. This made it easy to explore the rich culture and history of the area without any hassle. The serene garden and the inviting pool provided the perfect setting to unwind after a day of sightseeing. It was a peaceful oasis where I could relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Overall, my stay at the Dutch Bungalow was nothing short of perfect. The combination of historic charm, outstanding service, and excellent location makes it a top choice for anyone visiting Fort Kochi. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future.

United Kingdom1. Pool was out of service during all 3 days of our stay. Filtration problem. Water didn't look that clear or appealing until day we left when it seemed like the problem was resolved! 2. No alcohol licence. So bring your own. 3. Ice for a drink was usually unavailable/finished 4. Rained heavily 1st night. Room S1 water came in from the roof down the wall behind television. Next day we were moved to another room. S2 which was a better room.
Friendly staff. Sometimes waiting staff lacked experience but tried to help. Basic menu available.

IndiaNothing to point out.
The bungalow is situated very close to the St. Francis church, Chinese nets and other places of interest at Fort Kochi. There is no exclusive parking space for the property but the staff will help you park on the nearby road where the car will be under CCTV surveillance. Staff at the bungalow are nice and helpful. Even though it was difficult, the staff at reception was able to extend my checkout by an hour on last minute request. The heritage room and its bathroom was spacious and comes with all amenities. The common spaces in the building are also quite spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast at the place has limited but good options. I should particularly say that the service of the staff at the restaurant was excellent.

This is a beautiful heritage hotel. Lots of old world charm. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Good breakfast served next to the swimming pool. Wonderful way to start the day. Lots of small details that made us feel comfortable and warm... swing on the first floor; cookies and refreshments in common area; books. Most importantly, warm and pleasant staff! Hari, the manager and Jithin, front desk executive, are so professional and personable. Returning to this hotel at the end of the day was like coming back home.

United StatesThe check out process was a bit clunky. The receptionist didnt have my bill ready. He didnt have easy access to the dinner bill to be included in my bill right away. I had to make two trips to complete this bill paying exercise.
There was a hot breakfast being served with many options. The staff were very helpful to guests. The location of the hotel is excellent to reach various tourist destinations. This hotel does not take in many guests since the rooms are limited. At the same time they go above and beyond taking care of the guests.
