Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandBreakfast
Disappointed with breakfast. It said continental breakfast so was expecting some meats and good cheeses but just very basic triangles of cheese and no meats of any kind.

United States of AmericaNothing, the staff was great. Breakfast was continental could have more variety. They have a fancy coffee maker, but was not used.
This was a great place to stay. we were 15 minutes outside Galway. A great home base to explore the area. It's a fully restored Castle with a legit medieval tower next to it. The Castle tour was very cool - an unexpected bonus - the history, the restoration and being able to go up into the tower.

United States of AmericaIt was wonderful. If there is anything to add, perhaps robes and slippers.
Huge, airy rooms and easy check in. Close to a couple of restaurants and a gorgeous abbey. Very communicative and helpful host. It felt like staying in a museum with antique and historical furniture but with very comfortable, modern mattresses. Enjoyed the tea and wine included as well as the tour of the tower (and adorable cat running to greet us).

United States of AmericaThere wasn't anything I did not like about this location.
The staff at Claregalway Castle were great! They greeted us like family when we arrived and treated us as such our entire visit. They took us on a private tour of the tower and answered any and all questions we had. Breakfast each morning was continental buffet style but there was plenty to choose from along with hot tea, coffee, and fresh made expresso/cappuccino. The castle was close enough to Galway to not make it a chore to get to town but far enough away to not feel overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the big city. They did not have room available for a family of 4 that suited our purposes so we reserved 2 rooms and requested adjoining if possible. They were able to meet our request with ease. They had a bottle of complimentary wine in each of our rooms for us to enjoy along with waters, coffees, and teas (with tea sets!).

NetherlandsNo hot breakfast, but the fruit and yogurt and fresh fruit were more than we could eat anyway.
What a beautiful setting and grand place to celebrate my birthday! It was just special with so many wonderful touches. I loved the linens, dishes, flowers, tower renovations, hosts attention, and great big comfortable bed.

United States of AmericaKind of wish that there were blackout blinds. The big heavy curtains blocked the majority of the light but they allowed a lot of light in around them.
Spacious, extremely clean, quiet, close to Galway.

The castle was wonderful. The host were so good. We had a flat on our way to the castle and the host called and was concerned about us. When I told them what was going on he was so worried about our safety. We did a walk through of the castle and it was wonderful. John your workmanship is the best. You did a wonderful job.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. The breakfast was just enough to get you started for the day. Our room overlooked the river and was scenic, quiet, and peaceful. Loved it. One of the staff gave us a personal tour through the castle and Elizabeth, the castle cat, greeted us each time we returned from being out and about. Felt like home away from home.
