Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt’s a little bit of an older hotel so think old world charm. But the staff were very friendly and the rooms were large and air conditioned, so all up a good mid-range hotel experience
The location is excellent, very close to the Borobudur temple front gate. Made going to the temple in the first session of the day very easy

Saudi Arabiaall was good. just staff could be more knowledgeable about the surrounding activities for example Mondays the temple is closed to visits, where you find a sarong… simple questions.
Location is perfect to walk to Borobudur temple. Building is nice urban location, not resort type. Pool is nice.

United KingdomWhen outside in the pool area, the noise from the road is unfortunately close by and as a general theme in Java, for those who are not aware, the first call to prayer in the mosques are around 4/4:30am each morning. This hotel are surrounded by them, so hard to sleep through if that is not your general time to wake up.
the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. They were able to extend breakfast time due to our visit to Borobudur temple and gave me a private space to teach yoga classes in the morning and evenings to my group. Breakfast was delicious and we also chose to have dinner there once, which was really good. The hotel is very close to the temple. there is a big pool which is definitely a bonus. we booked massages through the hotel as well, and although it was a bit pricey, they were really good.

IndonesiaIt is a nice and pleasant first time experience. As the cozy room, nice breakfast and close to the Borobudur Temple, it is very recommended place to stay with. Upon check out, they let us park our car in the hotel and free us from trouble parking in the Temple.

United KingdomA few maintenance issues that should have been dealt with prior to guests checking in - the toilet kept running once flushed. The sliding door did not close properly and was therefore not able to lock. The hotel car did not have rear seat belts and the side window in the front was bubbled so you could not see out of it clearly which made sightseeing from it tricky.
A beautiful old world feel. Walking distance to all the Borobudur Temples. The pool was lovely. The full body massage next tot the pool is a must. When I visited, there were still COVID restrictions meaning that there were limited guests. Instead of the usual buffet, breakfast was ordered a la carte.

IndonesiaThe bathroom didn't had bathtub. Could have more options for breakfast; no complains for the taste tho - had nasi goreng, soto, and toast.
Fantastic place to stay in Magelang! Family suite was very spacious; noone else was using the pool when we were there so we got it all for ourselves. Walking distance to night market, minimarket, delicious local eateries and Borobudur temple. Too bad we couldn't catch sunset/sunrise due to covid.

NetherlandsThere wasn't any hot water in the shower and for the 2 minutes there was warm water, the waterpressure was not great. The room felt a little too big and not homely. Also due to covid the restaurant is closed.
The hotel is close to the Borobudur at about 5 min walking. For me the main reason to stay here was the closeness to the temple to visit early in the morning. However since the the Borobudur only opens around 8am now, a taxi from Yogyakarta and back is during covid maybe a better option. The pool was great though!

United KingdomSarsvati Hotel is very close to the Borobudur complex and really gorgeous. We arrived by car and were a bit early, but the lovely gentleman in charge had our rooms ready and let us check in a bit early. The lobby and rooms are grand and beautifully decorated. The pool is fabulous and I loved the central courtyard aspect of the rooms. We had to make a very early start on our checkout day and the hotel kindly agreed to let us have breakfast at 6am, even though it normally starts at 7am. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for more.
