Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsAccommodation: For us it was absolutely fine, just don’t expect a fancy getaway. If you don’t need fancy this place will absolutely do! Food: the accommodation only provides basic but good breakfast. It’s only a 7 minute walk, but for lunch and dinner there is not many options around. We found two places right next to each other, one was good the other one not. Flies: The area is swamped with millions of flies during the day. At night they are not active. Nothing the accommodation can do about the flies but good to know.
The place is a great starting point for trekking up mount Batur. The guide arranged by the very helpful and nice hosts picks you up at the location at 3:30, no car is needed, you just start walking from there. We only booked at 7pm directly at the accommodation and it was no problem! Also highly recommend the guide that was provided, we were given the option of a different way down where we didn’t have to tag along with the hundreds of other tourists! After the trek you can jump into the warm pool and have a simple but good breakfast. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. The accommodation is clean and the beds are comfortable, the rooms are very basic but functional. Bathrooms could use a little update but everything worked.

CanadaThe interior is a little old and there is not a whole lot to do or see in the area. Staying for one night would be sufficient.
The owner of the place was extremely kind and helpful: he helped us with a scooter, taxi and even cooked dinner for us when we didn’t have a scooter to go out to dinner. Also, the pool is lovely!

CanadaNo fridge or kitchenette! If you're doing the sunrise hike, this is disappointing since you can't have a coffee before you leave. If you're not planning on doing the Mt. Batur sunrise hike, note that there will be traffic/traffic noise in the morning, since it's along the road to get there. Note that you cannot do the sunrise hike without a guide (the story we heard was that people did some dangerous things and got hurt, so that's the policy now). We paid a bit more for our tour since it was organized by the hotel manager (he is open about the fact he gets a cut); but it was to include everything, and some people still tried to charge us extra, so be careful of that!
Great location, easy walk to the hot springs/lake and a few restaurants, and pretty close to the start of the Mt. Batur hike. The pool is small but lovely and warm (and apparently is hot-spring water?!), and the location allows for some great sunset/sun-rises! There isn't any A/C, but the elevation and generally cooler temperatures means you probably don't need it. We only stayed 1 night, and that was enough

Beautiful view over the lake. Loved the hot spring pool. Beds were comfortable. Wifi was good. When I got sick Made took me on the scooter to the doctor, that was very kind.

NetherlandsThere are a lot of flies in the Kintamani area which is not comfortable at times, but keep in mind this is an agricultural area and it's not much that Mapa Lake can do to avoid this.
The location is wonderful, with an amazing view to Mount Batur. It's located right at the basis of the mountain, perfect for climbing up in 1.5 hours. The owner helped us with a guide to do the sunrise trekking to Mount Batur. After the trekking we checked in and enjoyed the hot springs for the entire day. We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant of the location, and we really enjoyed the food. The products are sourced locally, and the dishes are mainly traditional from Indonesia, which is exactly what we wanted. Both cash and card payments are possible. Overall great value for money, and fully recommend Mapa Lake View Bungalow to other tourists.

Japan-The room was very basic, didn't have a kettle, coffee/tea, so we had to go buy tea from a store, then ask for hot water from the kitchen. -No fans. -the door knob of the bathroom was almost falling off. -it wasn't as great as the money we paid for.
-The hot spring pool was great after the sun rise hike! -Hot water in the shower was very hot! My mom enjoyed taken a bath in the night. -close to the hiking trail to Mt. batur, that was the reason we picked this place.
