The location was perfect - Diocletian's palace on the doorstep! Ivan was a hospitable host. Overall, the room was spacious and perfect for my needs as a solo traveller.

The shower is tiny and the base gets full of water as soon as you start the shower. Hot water is not hot and doesn't last long. The fridge in the room is tiny. There's no kitchen. The mattress is a spring old mattress. A mattress topper could make the bed more comfortable.

Location is definitely the best. Right in the old town and 5 minute walk to the bus/ferry terminal. The room is spacious and vintage. Good WiFi and working A/C. Gordan is very friendly.

This property should NOT be listed at booking.com! When I arrived at the property with my friend and Ivan realized I was South American be became extremely rude, said that I didn’t have to stay there, he had problems with non Europeans (he specifically used this words). It took me 2 days to find another place, when I finally did, he wanted me to pay for the hole week I had booked, even tho I was leaving the next morning because clearly I was not welcome and the place was not good! I had to argue with him to only pay for the 2 nights I actually slept there! On the top of that, I when I left I forgot my computer at his place. When I came back to pick it up, Ivan pushed my friend outside of the property, so only I would come up with him, and when I got to the room, the computer was gone. Besides that, the place is not at all like the pictures. The description is confusing. When I booked I thought I would have my own room, but it turned out to be a shared room with 4 beds. Besides, the room had no locker for keeping your items safe and It’s creepy. Ivan should not be a host, he’s racist and extremely rude.

I am a female solo traveller! I had nevee met such an abusive, Racist, mean, aggressive owner/mamager/host after travelling about 75 countries! . First of all, the accommodation is NOT an apartment! Misleading information on booking.com! It actually is a studio only. No kitchen facilities, you have to make coffee at the toilet door, drink water from bathroom basin! Very small shower. Owner wanted me to pay for a" board made of shell" to replace his old toilet seat because there was a crack on the toilet seat during my stay. There were 3 people there, but i was the only woman. he said that I was the last people left the accommodation on that date. He said he knew it was me from his 68 year experience! I asked why? He said because I asked too much before he said that I asked for blankets and toilet papers. the Italian guy was given a warm one. . Me and other Asian guy were not given any! he said that we came from warm areas, we didn't need blankets. I asked for a blanket first day. He gave me a very small and thin one. I asked for another one next day. I also I remindered him of no toilet paper on the 3rd day too! He wanted to kick me out for the 3rd night because I refused to pay for the cracked toilet seat , even though he had received money , €150 in CASH payment for 3 night rent! Luckily I insisted for a receipt when I paid! He verbly attacked my Asian background. He thought that I was Philippines. When I told him that I am Chinese then he said I was a communist! He said that he knew what communists like because he went through it 50 years ago! I told him that I am not a communist! I came from Australia! He pointed his finger toward me and almost touched my nose many times , he was very angry, aggressive, and yelled at me many times that my brain has been taken out by communists etc! He stopped it only after I was going to call police! He worried that I would write to booking.

The property was really not what I was expecting, some wall weren’t even painted, the shower didn’t even work properly and when we arrived the beds had some stains. And all that for 40 euros.

- it was essentially an airbnb with 4 beds. Not a hostel - shower floods every time - blanket was just a sheet and it was freezing at night - landlord was a very odd man. On check out day he walked in and out of the apartment shirtless and without knocking. At this point i was a woman alone in the entire apartment. felt very odd

The worse hostel I have stayed . The host needs anger management, he was rude , unkind , not caring. The gate door was broken and refused to repair , told me “ I am not your slave to fix the door ) he asked me just to unlock the gate which was unsafe . The shower is extremely small, no hot water , cold shower everyday .

Main thing is the attitude of the owner. He comes and goes every time he wants. When I checked in, there was some amount pending since he didn’t have cash for me to return the rest and payment was cash only direct. He regularly checks with me by sending some timeslots to give him the cash, those were not ok for me since I came here to visit the city and not to have meetings with him and I should utilize my time well. I informed him as well about my timings and he messaged me the day before checkout don't play cat and mouse game and he is going to report this Booking.com. The second incident was, one lady came for check-in who is of the age of my mother to whom he told beware of me. The way he talks and the way he behaves completely ruined my trip. Never look for the lower price, there is something hidden in it, here it is the owner. The lady who checked in also had bad experiences from him. The day before checkout at 11:40PM, he came and collected the money and went back. Other things, AC should not be operated below 22, there is a sticker posted for that in the room, WIFI stopped working the day before checkout, rooms are not clean and provides only bedsheet and three old towels and no blanket. Also, I made sure that before I check out, I meet this person and ask him about the incident, he just skipped the question by complaining about the lady. I told him that I am not going to leave any review for you because it’s one star and don’t do this to anyone else, he then replied that ‘good I will also not give you any review in that case’. I don’t care about review that I am going to get, but about this person and what happened to me I should warn others and if that person had a little bit of regret, I should not have posted this. I have all the screenshots of the communications I had with him. Don’t let such places ruin your trip, plan well and enjoy your travel.

Only thing good about this place is the location, it is within the palace compound and you can see the bell tower from the windows.

When I came I forgot that I need to pay by cash and it took me awhile to get it from the atm. The owner saw it as I don’t wanna pay lol and was totally rude and acting crazy. I’ve travelled many countries and stayed at many different places but never seen anything like that. This guy needs a doctor. He even locked the room with my stuff and the girl who was staying there too. That’s definitely not a good place for a vacation. Also there were cockroaches(!) in the apartment, in the bathroom and the room itself. The shower wasn’t clean enough and not comfy at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place even though it’s in old town. It’s not worth the money and energy.

The room was super outdated it looks like from the 90s, no lockers to lock your valuables, some very old furnitures, the bed wasn’t comfortable. WiFi didn’t work, shower is soooo small you cannot even turn. The base gets full of water very very uncomfortable. You can put only a chocolate bar in the fridge! Very small won’t even hold a bottle of water. The owner swearing customers in Croatian not nice at all !!!!
