Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryMinor thing: one of the beds crackle a lot.
The owners are super nice - generous and welcoming. I forgot some stuff for cooking: the host gave fresh produce from her own garden. Her husband even took us for a ride in his old timer VW Beetle. Outstanding cleanliness, well equipped living room and kitchen, amazing view from the balcony! We didn't find a microvawe, but everything else you could think of is there and logically organized. All was just as in the pictures. Location is excellent: quiet, but still in close vicinity to the city and beaches.

Edit
HungaryThe parking was a bit hard for me on the narrow and cranky roads.
The apartment was perfect and the owner was very kind and helpful. The location is a bit tricky becuse you couldn't really saw on the map the real attributions. There's the Ucka mountain and the apartment is on it. It has its pros and cons: we had to go to the beach by car and the parking was a bit hard for me on the narrow and cranky roads, but on the other hand the view was beautiful.

EstoniaWell, the driving up and down the mountain is a must. There really is no easy way to walk on those roads. It's possible but it takes 30 minutes down the hill (and more up the hill) and a lot of time there's no other place to walk than the carriageway. And driving itself is easy enough but at summertime there's not really anywhere to park when You're finally in town so that may cause some irritation. And not that it could be solved any better by the apartment (they had all sorts of chemical repellents available) but in this region of Croatia there seems to be a lot of mosquitos (or some other little bugs that suck blood), so balcony in the evening might cause some itching :D
It is an absolutely beautiful apartment. One of the best apartments I've ever stayed at during my vacations. There's a lot of space- in addition to three bedrooms it has a living room (with kitchen) that is bigger than a lot of studio apartments on booking.com. The balcony is comfortable with nice view and You can sit or sunbathe in the yard as well. The yard is nice there's kiwifruit and fig trees growing around the house. And two bathrooms, that really come in handy with bigger families/groups. The entrance to the apartment is on the ground floor but since it's built on a steep mountain the balcony is on 1st floor (and below it is another rental apartment as far as I could tell). But there's privacy- nobody was bothering us at all during the whole stay. The parking is also nicely in the yard, close to the door to the apartment. Even though previous reviews have complained about difficult access roads it is no really that difficult if You've driven in the Balkan countries before- it is tight sometimes but at least the main access road has a full lane in either direction so that is actually more room than You'd usually find in small villages in Greece or Montenegro for example (that said- if You have a big car it still is tight and if You've got a manual gearbox then practice using the clutch a bit beforehand because exit from the yard is pretty steep :D). The location is nice if You have a plan to prepare food mostly yourself. If You've got a plan to have breakfast, lunch and dinner in a restaurant/cafe then prepare to drive around quite a bit and factor in the time lost on finding parking spaces in the central town. The same could be said about beaches. And beach going people should bring a pair of swimming shoes along because most beaches have stones that may be a little hard on feet.

HungaryWe are really grateful that we found this large and comfortable apartment. Perfect for big family. We were there with 2 parent and 3 bigger children. Clean and nice rooms, amazing view from the terrace, calm area. Very well equipped apartment Good working air condition at the living room and kitchen. The Lovran's closest beach is good to reach with car. It is good because the parking is free. On foot it is ~45 mins, to go back it is heavy because of the incline. Apartment owner is really helpful and kind, she helped in everything. :-)
