To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Czech RepublicThe hostess is very friendly. The apartment is clean and beautiful. The view from our balcony was romantic: we could see the sea and a church in front of it, also mountains on the other side. The apartment had absolutely everything you may need: dishes, cutlery, dishwasher, washing machine, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, fridge, kettle, even a toaster. The communication was also excellent. When our kettle broke, the hostess brought us a new kettle within 5 minutes. The beach was about 10 minute walk, but it was manageable even with small children (5 years old and 3 years old). Beach is also excellent, by the way. It is very long and is surrounded by pine trees, which creates a nice shade.

The host was really kind, she always supported us. She was waiting for us front of our apartment, everything was clean, and comfortable. The apartment is better than we expected. It is near to the beach, but still calm. She brought us watermelon, juice and chocolate. She was like a mother caring for her children. I really recommend to stay here for vacation! + they have a lovely dog walks around the apartment!😍

SloveniaThe apartment was very clean, and it had all the facilities that we needed (airconditioning, washing machine). In the kitchen there was everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable as well. Very nice host, she was so kind, I don’t know if we met a host that was so kind in any apartment that we booked. The location was fine, we had our bikes with us so we get to explore and see the whole Makarska. The price was also okay:) It was a very nice stay and we hope to come back next summer. Definitely would recommend to anyone!:)

CanadaLovely apartment. The hosts were very kind and the unit was spotless. It has all the amenities necessary for a family vacation (laundry machine, clothesline, air conditioning, black out blinds, comfortable beds). We highly recommend this accommodation and would stay there in a heartbeat.

HungaryGreat apartment with an excellent host. The lady was very friendly and helpful, we got a welcome refreshment and homemade cookies. The apartment was well equipped and clean. The neighbourhood is very quiet, calm sleep is ensured. The beach is around 10 mins walk. A shop is located within 2 minutes. If someone is looking for a quiet and great place to stay with excellent hospitality we absolutely recommend this place.

NetherlandsThe wifi was too slow to really do much on. Normally I would just use my own, so better wifi would be nice for streaming :D However there is more then enough to do in and around Makarska, so this is not that big a problem.
Very nice host. She was attentive and helpful when we needed something. The airconditioning was nice and a must for hot days. Everything you need is available. Enough pans, a water cooker, and cutlery. There is lots to do around Makarska, and while walking to the beach in Makarska is possible, I would recommend a going to one of the less busy beaches in the area. Overall great stay, and would definitely go again!
