There was a terrible smell in the room and I believed it was the chair and asked for it to be removed, it never was. The chairs could do with a deep clean as they look like they came from someone's old living room and never cleaned. The Bathrooms could be updated as there were some cracked and missing tiles. My suggestion for a refurbishment with better and brighter lights (day lights) in the bathroom. Rooms should also be painted brighter in white or cream, wasn't a fan of the dark colours, feels like trying to hide something. In addition, to make this hotel wheelchair accessible they should add a lift. Some of the others were a bit slow with service and couldn't be bothered. There needs to be better customer service training for all staff. The breakfast was the same everyday until we discovered their was a menu, but the waffles, came with nothing as described on the menu and were extremely heavy. I suggest they offer pancakes with only two pancakes and more fruit, cream and syrup. Finally, Guyana doesn't have beach attractions and The Herdsmanston should take advantage and have a small pool. This will allow people to relax and have a dip to cool off. There are lots of easy improvements that can be made to make it 4 star hotel: Service, Redecoration and a Pool.

I loved the dinner provided at the restaurants the food was delicious Guyanese cuisine. I liked that this hotel had a semi modern feel to it with elements of the old structures. There were a few staff members that were exceptional in their hospitality, Ms Kathy and Ms Susan. Some of the others were a bit slow with service and couldn't be bothered. I liked that you could also use US dollars in the hotel and they would give you change in US dollars. You could also trust Ms Kathy to book trips for you. She was so helpful and understood how to deliver outstanding customer service.

The staff constantly asking us for our room number made me and my partner feel as if we were unwelcomed and not actual guests. We felt them staring at us almost everyday and they wouldn't even speak to us when we caught them staring. Besides this issue, some problems in the bedroom was a leaky AC that constantly dripped throughout the nights and the iron was also leaking water when I used it.

There are a few things I can list about Herdmanston Lodge. We enjoyed the comfy bedroom and amenities, including the balcony view which was very scenic. The complimentary breakfast was well made every morning. And the Wi-Fi was excellent and fast. Room service checked on us every once in a while asking if we needed anything. The furniture and decorations in the bedroom were nice. The chairs were comfortable, and the bed and pillows were soft. My only complaint would be the sheets weren't very warm.

Location was a fair hike from downtown, but one can ask is that a bad thing or not. Downtown is very chaotic. And there are always taxis at reasonable cost. As an European one is (too) used to shower having a fairly even good pressure and hot water coming out immediately. This, of course, applies to everywhere in the area. A/C was one of those models which blows out freezing cold air until you stop it doing so, independent on the temperature sent to it. So the room was either too hot or too cold during the night. Breakfast was only so-so.. There was nothing to keep anything either cold or hot so after a while everything was close to ambient temperature.

Staff! Lovely. It was in a lush neighborhood. Should have been quiet but local people have this habit of driving by everywhere with music blasting at 11. My room was in the old part of the hotel which was very old style and felt exclusive.

Very expensive, although Georgetown properties were pricey in general. A couple of the staff members were not too kind to us (although others were).

Absolutely beautiful property (rooms, common areas, and exterior!) The breakfast was also wonderful - lots of choices and excellent food. It was very safe and secure with 24-hour security and staff, which was appreciated as we arrived after 1am and left at 5am. Some of the staff were very kind and helpful.

Toilet wasn't working, two days in a row. Though they did fix quickly. More dated than the pictures show. Nothing in the immediate area to walk to (restaurants/bars).

The grounds were nice. There was a restaurant on site, which was useful. Breakfast included. Smart TV, with hulu/Netflix, etc. Super helpful.

The music playing outside can be heard inside , through walls are not insulated, a party was happening somewhere in the neighborhood and played very loud music and i can hear every word.
