Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything was perfect
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Markos was really helpful getting us to and from the ferry (despite it only being a short distance) and he took great care to make sure we had everything we needed. Although not on the seafront the hotel is only a short couple of minutes walk to the beach. The rooms were huge and beautifully furnished, everything was very clean and there were good kitchen facilities (although we didn't use them due to eating out). No distance from supermarket and restaurants. Very peaceful. Highly recommended.

FinlandThe place was beyond my expectations, and I have stayed again and again in Sougia. This is definitely the best. The owners were very professional and helpful with everything. The hotel has excellent spacious rooms with nice furniture. Very clean and all in perfect condition. I loved the garden and the fountain. A note for booking.com: The hotel was nearer to the beach than mentioned by booking.com, and it should be fixed for the information of future dwellers. It is a bit less than 200 m. from the beach.

GermanyAll great. Perfect stay.
We stayed 5 nights and would have stayed longer, if we had more time. The location is great. Along the (very quiet) main street, 5 min down the road is the beach, the clear water and the local restaurants etc. It was our first stay in Sougia and the hotel as well as the village by far exceeded our expectations. Very friendly people, family type atmosphere in most places. You can do a lot of really nice hikes directly from the village/hotel. Ancient ruins, cave of Polifemos, Taxi or Bus to Samaria Gorge and other places, then back by boat etc everything is very easy. Marcos, the owner of the hotel, was extremely helpful with a number of suggestions how to turn or thoughts into activities. When to go where, which method of transportation and more (thanks a lot again for this!!) Sougia turned out to be a very relaxed type of village. In many places you get authentic food of great quality for rather small prices (and for us a bit to large portions). We will come again to the village and the hotel.

United KingdomNothing and we would stay there again.
The apartment was excellent and the location, a little back from the sea front, was good. The couple running the hotel were very helpful and could not have done any more to make our stay more comfortable.

United Kingdom1. Shower holder is waist height so you have to hold it to shower properly but it's not the end of the world. 2. Aircon turns off if any external door ajar. We appreciate why this is but without a handle on the outside of the balcony a person wanting to sit outside whilst the other sleeps (with aircon) is required to wake them up to get back in!
What a cracking stay at Markos' place. Lovely welcome, super helpful guy, apartment spotless, plenty of parking and a 2 minute walk to all you need in Sougia. Marksos was super helpful in assisting with our trip to Samaria Gorge and had yoghurt and white wine waiting for us when we returned.

GermanyThe kitchenette could be a little better equipped with more cutlery, tools and china. The balcony and its table could have been bigger for a party of three. But these were minor things…
Nicely furnished apartments with very well working airconditioning. The location is ideal: Just at the beginning of the village, only 1 minute by foot to the beach, hiking trails start almost at the doorstep. Our apartment was meticulously clean, sheets and towels smelled super fresh! The breakfast is nice as well and the owners are super friendly and helpful. Would defenitely come back here!
