Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

IsraelThere was some weird smell when we first went in to the room - before we turned on the air conditioner. The breakfast was very basic and they didn't even come once to check if something needed to be re-filled (so of course stuff was missing).
Air-conditioned, pretty clean. Close to the airport and had a late check in option. The staff in the front desk were very nice and welcoming.

Czech RepublicThe breakfast was not good. It was OK but... they try to give you many options but all of them are... bad ... like the cheapest things you buy in a supermarket... I'd prefer better quality food even if there was not that many options to choose from... The location is in the middle of nowhere (just residential buildings). Closest shops, restaurants or the metro station are all at least a 15 minute walk away (and not a nice one - side walks hardly exist in the area and if the weather is hot, it's quite unpleasant...)
Simple and older equipment of the room but just everything you need... The staff was very helpful and always ready to assist. The A/C was working, which was unfortunately needed a lot.

United StatesThis is not "bad," but I didn't realize I was supposed to turn in my keys when I left the property for the day. Apparently this is one of the hotel rules.
This is a place to stay that's somewhat close to the airport. It is not close to most attractions downtown. It's a quiet neighborhood, so if you need a place to stay overnight while traveling through (like I was), then it's perfect. Breakfast was good.

United StatesThe hook to attach the showerhead to the wall was broken. Not a huge deal, but we had to hold the showerhead to rinse off in the shower.
Staff were accommodating and were able to provide us an early check in, as requested. Location was only 17 minutes drive from the airport and a 9 minute walk to our friend's dorm at the American College of Greece. Getting downtown was easy (with help from our friend) via bus/metro. The "main" street with cafes and restaurants was about a 15 minute walk.

United KingdomSmell of smoke in the room. I've heard several travellers complaining about out the same issue. The hotel should be stricter with their policy and put signs in the rooms and fines for those who smoke. Breakfast time was from 7.30, which I consider late and could be at least from 7:00. It is harder to get to the city centre as the nearest metro is 30 mins walk.
