Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing at all!!
We stayed many times in Greece and in many different accommodations, but this really was the most beautiful one!! The cottages are so nicely decorated and very private, you have your own big terrace with practically your own back yard. And then the pool area with magnificent sea and Kefalonia view. In the pool bar you can order food between 09.00 and 17.00 h, this food is delicious and you do not have to order breakfast in advance. So you can decide each morning to leave early and have breakfast in your cottage or to go to the pool and have it there. Hara and Dennis are the most friendly hosts and Dennis takes the time to sit with you after your arrival with a map of Zakynthos to point out all the places, beaches and restaurants which are worth a visit. Communication with the hosts is also very good, they respond very quickly to any questions you might have. So, in short, when we ever return to Zakynthos, we will most certainly stay in Ilyessa Cottages!! Also because of the location, somewhat in the middle of the island, so you can reach all parts by car within reasonable time.

Netherlands-
What a beautiful place with fantastic people! A very comfy and cosy restaurant area with delicious food, a beautiful infinity pool with stunning views over the Aegean sea. But best of all are Hara and Denis (and their adult children) running the place. We felt like being part of the family and fell in love with the place and people. We will surely return!

Absolutely everything 💗 The peaceful location between the olive trees, the infinity pool with the sea view, the accomodations with the terrace and hammock and of course last but not least the kindness of the owners/family. The food as well was delicious. I can only recommend you this place if you want to enjoy Zante away from the tourists. This is definitely one of the best place I have ever been.

United StatesIt is somewhat of a twisty drive to get to, but we appreciated it as it was so quiet!
Located in a sleepy village, Ilyessa is quaint, quiet, relaxing. With an infinity pool and views of the ocean, trees and flowers all around, and the absolute BEST hosts we have ever experienced! Dennis and Hara ensured our stay was perfect, from delicious, authentic Greek meals to fantastic drinks, we couldn’t have asked for more!

South AfricaLots of mosquitos - even though there are screens, if you open them it’s touch to avoid. So take mosquito repellent!
It’s a lovely part of the island. Quiet and away from the shops and hotels. Beautiful grounds and magnificent pool area with eternity pool and sea view. We also had out own lovely garden and plenty of space.

NetherlandsWe had a wonderful time at Ilyessa cottage. It is such a idyllic place and Hara and her family are very warm and welcoming. You feel immediately at home. The location is very beautiful and quiet, perfect to let go of all your stress and enjoy the sounds of nature. We saw and heard a lot of birds like the Oriole, many Goldfinches and even the Hoopoe. At the same time there were so many flowers, a whole carpet of pink and yellow between the olive trees, each one of which looks like a work of art. Every morning we had great coffees made by Apostolis and every evening we had a delicious diner. The whole family took care of us. Hara and family, all the people of Ilyessa cottages, thank you very much for making our holiday so special, sas efcharistoume para poli... We will keep in touch Love, Harry & Wendy

PolandIf you like to sleep in super cold air-conditioned rooms, then it might be hard for you (like it was for us), because the AC doesn't reach all the bedrooms very well. The beds are also a bit different from the foam mattresses we are used to, but again this is personal preference.
Staying here felt like staying at our family's house. Hara and her family are so warm, kind, generous, and accommodating. Our dog fell in love with them also! Their family pets were cute and sweet, especially the three-legged cat who stole our hearts the most. The cottages are very cute and the whole area is surrounded by olive trees; it is a very quiet and comforting place to relax, take it easy, and enjoy the laidback life. We skipped dining in any other restaurants on the island after trying Hara's cooking; I would advise anyone who stays here to ONLY eat dinner here. Everything we had was amazing and every night we went to bed full and happy. The location in general is also great and only a 3 minute drive to a supermarket, and 30 min from the ferry port.
