Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandI didn’t like that there was practically no air conditioning. The 'air conditioner' didn’t cool the room at all and made a terrible noise. The fan didn’t help much either, and I could hardly sleep at night because of the heat. Additionally, the terrace was unusable as the 'air conditioner' blocked the door.
The accommodation had a great location in a charming historical village. The room was very clean, and communication with the host was excellent.

JapanIn general, we were happy with everything, but if I was going to give some constructive feedback, I would suggest improving the shower a bit. Specifically, the pressure was a little weak (not a big deal), but also the overhead shower function didn’t work in our room, only the hose part, which you couldn’t attach to a point over your head, meaning you had to hold the hose above your head to rinse the shampoo out of your hair.
Historic, unique building

United KingdomAir con not very powerful.
This is a really special find - an incredible location in an actual medieval castle (there’s even a prison cell beneath the rooms!) within a tiny but beautiful traditional Greek village, with spotlessly clean winding picturesque streets, far from the crazy crowds. Check in was easy, and they arranged all the transfers. There’s one cafe (amazing baklava and ice cream, beer and coffee) and one restaurant within a couple of minutes from the castle in the village - both exceptional. Tiny but functional kitchen in the room. Easy to get around by bus if you don’t want to hire a car.

United KingdomGiven that the room looks like a cave, it would be ideal if there was access to the balcony, unfortunately, this was not the case. The bathroom is not that comfortable to use as the shower is slippery and the access to the toilet is through a low ceiling entrance.
The room is located in a historic old building in the beautiful village of Emporio. It is quite close to most of the beaches like Perissa, Red, Black, White, Vlychada, Mesa Pigadia and Kamari. Emporio is a quiet village that has almost everything one might need at reasonable prices away from the crowd. Megalochori, Akrotiri and Pirgos villages are close to Emporio and worth visiting all of them. Akrotiri Lighthouse is possibly the best place to enjoy the sunset. The room is fully equipped and air-conditioned. The host was friendly and kind and always available to answer our questions and provide useful information.

United KingdomIf you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main hot spots in Santorini, then Emporio Exi castle apartments are an excellent choice. A short bus ride takes you to some of the best beaches on the island. Staying in a truly authentic building, a fifth century Venetian castle is a real experience, the village is amazing, whilst the staff are fantastic, friendly and happy to let you explore or provide excellent recommendations. This provides an alternative to the usual Santorini experience.

United KingdomOur room did not have air-con in the bedroom (although did have this in main room which adjoined). This meant we had to use a fan in our room. Hotel has no re proof, which meant gaining info & arrival harder but they did contact us regularly by email.
The castle is beautiful and facilities inside where great. Very traditional Greek village.

United KingdomAlthough there was a clothes rail, I could not find any hangers but as I was lone traveling this didn't matter too much. A little note about how to find them from both the church and Disiderios cafe would help disoriented travelers such as myself , although they did come to meet me so cannot fault this! I craved a place to be able to reheat some foods or find a place close by for a good breakfast but as I was exploring each day I soon found local bakeries and shops., missed my eggs!
Staff couldn't have been more accommodating, as ASD individual and tired upon late arrival, staff were very patient and friendly. Also very informative about local island and activities. Booked bike hire through same folks and they let me keep it overnight allowing for easy start to my second day on the island. Despite late night arrival, they walked me to local shop and showed me route to the hotel ensuring I was happy before leaving me to it. Loved the area... quiet town known mostly to locals, but with some hidden gems well worth a walk about the old quarter. I found a fantastic cafe and restaurant and a local silversmiths where I purchased some lovely locally handmade items and the best kebab I have ever eaten. Water ready chilled in fridge upon arrival and plenty of chill space. I also loved the cave like room ,kept me cool and had plenty of space...and wh could forget the constantly available hotub!

United StatesYou have to get the pick up service offered by Exi to make it easier for you to find it. The car service could not go any further up the hill where Exi is located. It’s not hard to get lost in the maze of small alleys so it’s a must that someone familiar with where the hotel is should go with you.
This hotel is AMAZING! I’ve been to many hotels in different parts of the world but this one is something to remember and look forward to staying again. The place itself is very unique. I was blown away when I learned that me and my partner is actually going to stay in a 500 year old castle! The view from our balcony (we got room 4) was amazing. The owner is super helpful and friendly. Just a walk to the town square you will find places to eat with very friendly people. I can’t wait to go back!

ThailandThe room is renovated from the castle so the room would be a little different from what you used to in other hotel. For example, the low door frame, the uneven step of stair. I do not have problem with that but I think the other traveller should think about it carefully. Look at the pictures of the room before you decide. The walk way to the hotel is quite challenging. The path to the hotel is not smooth. If you carry a big luggage with you you might have a difficult time pushing it up there. This place is also one of the tourist spot, so sometimes there would be a group of people wandering around near your room and you can actually hear them from the inside. Even though, the hotel have you a coffee machine. There is no capsule provided.
The location is quite nice. It is near the bus stop. There are shops and restaurants around too. The staff, John, is very friendly and informative. The room is very comfortable. The castle vibes is amazing. Love it!

United KingdomTerrace - i didn't realise it was so open, a lot of day trippers passing. We went in April, so not as many as there would be in the height of the season. No chairs/table on the terrace. It was empty so we couldnt really use it. The door to the terrace wasnt easily accessible as the aircon unit vent went through the door. You had to unplug it, remove the vent from the door before you could go out. This was a pain Aircon - portable unit. It's really noisy and not something we could leave on overnight. Room facilities - No facilities if you wanted to make breakfast or a snack. There was a kettle in the room, but no tea making tacilities.
Building & location - The building was amazing. The location was great. Easy yo get to the shops, bus stop etc Room - The room was lovely. We loved the quirkiness of it after we had got used to the tiny doors to outside, the terrace, and into the toilet. If you're broad or tall or clostrophobic, then you might want to think again. (After you've banged your head a couple of times, you remember!) Great view from the terrace. Good bed and bedding Good quality towels Decent size fridge Coffee maker and pods

United KingdomI have arthritis and slipped spinal discs so struggled with the location of the property being on top of the hill and having to go up massive steps everyday, there’s also big steps in the house so I was in pain a lot. It would be great if the host could meet you at the car park and show you the easiest way up to the castle, because we went the worst way carrying 21kg suitcase up loads of steep stairs and windy footpaths 😵💫 Also, the parking! It was a tense moment coming home everyday to see if we could get a space! Aside from that, it was honestly perfect!
Wow, it was a piece of heaven on earth. It’s hidden in a traditional little village in a castle. We loved knowing we could come back every night to this beautiful place and have a jacuzzi and relax. Our host Giannis and maintenance guy Ilia were absolute sweethearts and looked after us really well. We were genuinely depressed getting off the flight yesterday back in England 😭

TaiwanIt's a bit dusty but no slippers were provided. It's slightly far from the car park. The hotel guy was kind to help with luggage to the suite but it was a bit tiring when I checked out and had to walk a little distance to an area where cars can reach.
A cute castle/cave ambience with a little stair case goes up to the bed. The sizable living room with a big tv is comfortable. They have a coffee machine and kitchen appliances but no capsules or condiments. When I asked, they kindly provided some, which is really applaudable. The hotel manager is also very helpful with all info.

United StatesThe walk from the parking lot to the Castle, is a BIG hill, will take your air out of your lungs easy. You will need a GPS to get there because is a maze of small rockie passages going up and up and up...

GreeceThe doors where very small it could become annoying after the novelty wears off. It’s very isolated and feels a little spooky at night. I’m sure it’s very safe just dead quiet. There are tavernas and shops a walk away but it’s far from Fira etc.
A unique experience staying in a piece of history. Full head height (except the doors) everywhere and quite spacious for an old castle room. Very modern and comfortable.

Costa RicaThere are several paths to the room and there are some paths that are quite scary. They are narrow and some dirty. So arrive at daylight to find the right path. Also google maps think that you can get there with car. You can't. Get directions before heading there. We booked with the room with jettub and there is a con to this. The room gets filled with chlorine even if the door is closed. If you are sensitive to chlorine you might be sneezing the whole time. The hot water in the shower doesn't last very long (about 5 minutes). *I am not sure, but I think the water coming out of the hot shower has rust. Probably from old pipes. We had to use a towel on the floor because it was too slippery and the towel turned from white to orange - as I said. Not sure. Check with other reviews*.
The person who gave us the key is really friendly. We liked that it is pretty inside, quiet, confortable, well equipped. It has a nice living room with couch, tv, a heater if its too cold, a hot tub. The bed is soft with chargers entry. The place is quite unique. Room is quite big.

My stay at the castle was absolutely amazing! Although the location is a bit far from the town, the surrounding area is beautiful and perfect for leisurely walks. Plus, having a lovely cafe and a supermarket within walking distance was very convenient. I felt incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to stay there. Thank you Giannis!!
