Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt was extremely hot and you could not cool down the room enough. Yes there is AC but it can only be turned on if you were there with your room key. It didn’t blow much so it took a really long time to cool down.
It was close to the train station, grocery stores and restaurants.

BulgariaWhen towels were being changed we never knew what would be left - 1 big and one small, two big and 2 small, once it was just 2 small towels. The cleanliness can be a little better with a few blood marks left and some spiderwebs. The neighborhood can be nice or very bad depending on which street you pick.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming, offering any assistance needed. The hotel is relatively close to all the important sights - about 30 minutes from the acropolis and 15 from the archeological museum (if walking). Right across from it was a Bulgarian mini market that had cheaper prices than the rest of the stores we've been to. There were soaps, shampoos, a blow-dryer and air-conditioning which was very nice and unexpected given the price.

ItalyThe area around the hotel is tough, very tough, with drug addicted using heroin just everywhere in the near proximity: be aware of it.
it's an ok place, nothing special but, for the money you pay, you get a basic accommodation in a strategic position of the city

United StatesThe staff were welcoming, pleasant, helpful and professional. The hotel is dated, and the location is very close to a subway stop, bus stations and not far from a train station, which would be great except that it seems to attract homeless. If the homeless could be moved into shelters, not allowed to sleep on the sidewalks, it would feel like a much safer area at night, but even so, I personally never felt threatened or at any risk of harm. The great rates are likely due to the fact that the property is out dated and the location isn't ideal. For me that trade-off was very well worth it. I would stay there again without hesitation. There are convenient places to eat and a couple nearby family-owned restaurants that I really liked. My favorite surprise was that the weekly farmers market was on the same street as the hotel, just a half block away, wonderful produce, flowers, and souvlaki and lots of fun. Its quick and easy to get to all the sights with the metro system. Overall, to me it felt like a more authentic experience than hotels in the more touristy areas

United KingdomThe area....as a solo traveller I found the area a bit concerning.....loads of homeless gathering and going through bins, I like to walk around cities but felt the need for taxis/public transport especially in the evenings.
Hotel is basic but clean and the staff very friendly. Air conditioning in the room, much needed but the smallest shower I have ever seen.

CanadaAthens is a very large city, so exercise the usual precautions as you would in any large city, especially after dark. Unfortunately, as with any city these days, we noticed individuals experiencing homelessness. We had no negative interaction with any of these individuals.
Very easy access to Metro. Many delicious food options nearby. There is a well stocked mini market and a supermarket within a short walk if you wish to provision your room. Affordable option in the heart of Athens.
