Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicIt's not related to the property itself: it's right in the town center of Kissamos, and there is always a party downstairs on the square. We had a small baby and we sleep early, so this party was quite disturbing. If your family is in the similar status, you might want to re-consider the location.
Perfect hosts, great value for money, daily cleaning and free laundry.... Everything!

GermanyMain square outside can sometimes be a bit loud at night if you leave the window open (when closed though the soundproofing is quite good).

United StatesBlank… I can say nothing here. Other than we had to leave.
What can I say, on our trip to Crete, this was by far our favorite place to stay… and wish we had longer to visit with Niki. She was simpliy amazing, as was the accommodation. The hotel its self was nice, clean, comfy, but Niki made it! From the first message prior to arrival to the greeting and everything in between it was amazing. She gave the best recommendations for our time in the city and for the two stops after! We had water and fruit waiting for us in the room, snacks and anything we may have left outside was available out side of the room and laundry was included! Simply the best!

ChinaThe location is excellent, being very close to the bus station, and just a few minutes' walk to see the sea. The room was extremely clean and the bed is very comfortable. Despite the room being near the street, the windows have good sound insulation. And this was my first time visiting Crete, the staff helped me solve many issues, and if I have the chance to come again in the future, I would definitely stay here!

CanadaThe only drawback was the occasional motorcycle noise in the square.
First of all, the staff was fantastic!! Helpful, cheerful, friendly, accessible. The best!!! Coffee was made outside my room every morning with cake, fruit and biscuits. The location is lovely on the square, with nearby parking, views of the sea in the distance and close to restaurants and beach. I’d definitely go back!!

United KingdomHonestly nothing. It's a small hotel on the main square so there is no entertainment provided (thank goodness), no communal lounge, dining room, bar or pool but you can tell that from the description! It's just a very nice small hotel run by fantastic people. There is an issue with local youngsters hanging about the square late at night and riding their cars and the inevitable scooters and motorbikes. This can go on till 2am but if you are a night bird like me it gives you something to watch as you drink and read or listen to music on the balcony and the double glazing is really good and does shut out all noise!
The staff at the Castell Hotel are exceptional - very friendly and extremely helpful and considerate. They are always happy to talk and spend a bit of the day with you and have lots of suggestions for places to go and beaches to visit. When I was there, it was very hot and they even left my air conditioning on after cleaning so that it would be a treat to get into the room after a day on the beach or at ancient sites. I actually asked them to stop because I know it's expensive and a waste of electricity! I was provided with a very large breakfast every day in my room. This is not normal. Coffee, water, fruit, biscuits, etc are provided complimentary communally outside the rooms but I was given service to my room and included salad, yoghurt and pastries. I was in one of the superior rooms but this is not an advertised service. Maybe I'm just such a wonderful person (or they felt sorry for me being on my own!). The hotel is located in the heart of Kissamos on the main square. My first night was during a music festival and a band were playing. I could watch the concert from my balcony! Luckily, they were great! I prefer being in the centre rather than on the beach because it feels a bit more genuine rather than just holiday people being around and other than when bands play, quieter! I noticed that people booked in at all times of the day - 2330h and midnight in two instances - and that there was someone there to receive them. That is a nice touch. No texted instructions and "We'll see you tomorrow". The rooms are large (even the smaller ones - I've stayed in both), comfortable and very clean. There is no dedicated parking but there is always parking nearby, if need be 220m away. But I have always found a space outside the hotel or just along the street. I love this hotel and the people who run it! If I'm visiting in this part of Crete, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
