Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. United States of AmericaI would like to see a kids specific pool with slides in the future since they seem to cater to families. They could also think about providing dinner by the seaside restaurant which was lovely.
We recently stayed at Avra Imperial for 5 nights and it was a great overall experience. The hotels facilities are very nice and quite Comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Overall a wonderful stay and convenient location if you want to visit places like Balios Lagoon/Beach, Elafonissi beach, Platanias area and Chania.

RomaniaThe second bathroom had some issues with the drain, it starts to get a musty smell. The TV remotes did not work, didn't bother us too much. But there may be a need to upgrade the TVs to some smart TV options. I will not understand what is the reason you would open once more a chinese restaurant with sushi options and not to have a Greek restaurant opened. Two years ago there was one opened and we were announced that this would not reopen this year around. This to me was one big minus. And the Greek food options in the international restaurant were but a few. The path to the beach was abrupt and there was one other in the making. The beach is a rocky one, it would have been nice to have a sand corner for the kids to play in. Or a playground corner outside would have made a nice surprise.
As a plus compared to some years back, they have made some additional pools which are always nice to have and enjoy. The covid rules and precautions are by the book and we felt really safe. Now on arrival we got upgraded for free, and that was great. The nice surprise was that they now have a Romanian speaker at the reception (Iulian, thank you!). The bell boy service was spot on and and Manolis was a life saver every time(Manolis, thank you!) The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The sun deck was nice to enjoy all day long and the private pool as well. The Italian restaurant is a la carte and the food is great. The international one has a buffet menu and that was a budget friendly option. I have to say that the number of options has diminished compared to two years back, but the food is great and there are still enough options for all. The personnel on both restaurants is great, thank you Elda for making the extra effort! They also provide room service with a few good options, one more plus if you feel tired. And I have to say they are really making the effort to bring the food, regardless of how hot or humid ir tired they are, hats down to the personnel!

BelgiumThe beds were a bit too hard, but that is the only small remark I have.
This was a beautiful, modern and very clean hotel. The room was lovely with lots of space for 2 people. It is perrfectly located to enjoy some of the best the chania region has to offer. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly! Great service! The food and drinks were great as well, especially the Italian one and the desserts were delicious!

United KingdomThe initial room we were given, which was a deluxe suite with private pool, had no view except a building site by the entrance door, the furniture indoor and out was not as described, but the concierge did everything they could to remedy this by moving us to an upgraded room which was lovely. The food in the buffet was very mediocre and very cold. The restaurants had the potential to be good. Too long a wait on the second day for lunch, we were there for nearly 2 hours and in the end my husband left with no main course as he had an appointment at the spa, but it was very busy. The first meal we had in the blue dong was absolutely amazing, the second meal was like night and day, 30 minutes before we got a drink, half the menu had run out, so very disappointing. The restaurant manager runs around and works in every restaurant, seemingly a little overworked, but very pleasant. The main pool area is incredibly busy and dirty glasses are left everywhere until the morning. If you don't leave towels out early you do not get a bed near the pool. The pool area at the seafront is gorgeous with lounger service, so once again like night and day. The beach area is not nice at all, across a road. There are much nicer beach areas further down the beach in front of cafe's which are free if you order drinks. There are lots of restaurants nearby towards the marina so we ate there a few nights, even though we were all inclusive. The hotel has the potential to be lovely with just a few tweaks. Room service and cleaning of the rooms is good, but no turn down in the evening.
The hotel has the potential to be lovely, the idea of the hotel is good, nice location. Some rooms are lovely and the Kids Club and Spa is excellent. Room service choice and service is excellent. The pool area and service at the beach is lovely.

Israelthe food at the hotel is really oily the plates are not clean. as a couple we thought we can get a little quiet but the hotel was full of kids. at the first night of our stay we where told we are getting “upgrade” and moved to a room with pool view we received a room next to the bar and kids where running and screaming until 23:30 we called the front desk couple of time and until we asked the firmly to come with us they didn’t do anything in the matter. even when we asked they move us back to garden view they didn’t promise anything and only after we made it clear we want to move they finally moved us

SwedenLeft my laundry bag at the reception around 8:30am. Were told at around 8pm that my laundry would be ready the day after first. Crazy, so I got the dirty clothes back again as I had to leave early next day. Probably the arrogant guy in the reception that didn’t want to collect my bag in the morning. He must have forgot to make sure it was not delivered.
Rooms, breakfast and pool facilities were nice.

United KingdomWe were quite disappointed with our stay. The hotel is very commercial and impersonal, and feels like a shame to stay here if you really want to experience the beauty of Crete. It’s on a busy road and the village is ok but there are so many more beautiful places in Crete to explore. We went to Paleochora and Loutro beforehand and were unpleasantly surprised when we arrived. The beach at the hotel is small and the water is not clear. We rented a scooter and adventured around and managed to find nicer spots for swimming. I wouldn’t suggest staying here if you don’t have children as the rooms are poorly soundproofed and we were woken every morning by children screaming. The water at dinner is an extra 2.80 even though we found the same glass bottles at the next door supermarket for 45 cents... The rooms are ok but very generic and not as luxurious as the website implies. I suggest saving your money and travelling to the south coast of Crete! One of the dressing gowns in our room was dirty and stained with makeup and smelled of perfume when we arrived, and when we requested a new one we didn’t get it for two days. Kolymbari is ok as a place, there are a few nice gift shops and restaurants at the port, and a nearby village Afrata had a lovely restaurant too. However, it doesn’t come close to the south coast of Crete with its clear sea and authentic Cretan charm! Overall we of course still had a good time, but that was only because we went out and explored. We were surprised to see there was also a 40 euro charge for hotel tax when we checked out...
The evening buffet was delicious with a big choice of high quality food. The Cretan breakfast was also very good. The staff are very friendly.

IsraelThis was our fourth time at this hotel. Unfortunately it will be our last. The showers in our room smelled like sewage and the water in the shower didn’t go down well. Also we needed to use the showers near the pool because our flight on the day we left was late and they didn’t allow late checkout. This would have been good if the facilities were clean and convenient as you would expect from a five star hotel. Unfortunately the place was not clean, the floors were wet and the whole place smelled like mildew. During our stay (4 nights) three times people grime the hotel entered the room without even knocking on the door. Also we reserved a private minivan to take us to the airport but when we were at the lobby and the driver didn’t show up it turned out that the receptionist forgot to order the ride. They called the taxis and requested a minivan to come quickly but we ended up leaving 50 min late! When we asked what they will do if we miss our flight the answer was “you will need to ask the taxi not us”.
The location is great for us because we like the west and Chania area.

Sweden- Staff in restaurants and the pool area of very varying quality and professionalism. Some perfectly fine, others borderline rude, forgetful and non-plussed - As soon as we arrived, having booked an expensive all-inclusive option, we wanted to book restaurants for the evenings. There was no availability in any of the restaurants until the 3rd day, so confined to the buffet restaurant for two nights (which was no better than your average package holiday fare). Not exactly what we paid for. - Air condition issues one night, staff tried to blame it on patio door being open (apparently their system showed it was, which it wasn't). Called 4 times, maintenance came and it worked for 20 minutes again, then turned itself off. - Booked a trip to the Balos Lagoon one day. Cash only. Seriously? It's 2022 also in Crete surely.
- Pool area was nice, the Asian restaurant good - Reception staff nice and friendly, helped me when I quickly needed to get taxi and new boarding passes printed when our return flight was cancelled and we needed to leave in a hurry to catch an earlier plane.

Poland1. The indoor pool was closed during our stay, water in the outdoor one was too cold to use it. We do understand it might be due to covid, but it should be highlighted while booking. 2. The hotel is huge, but with a very limited offer for kids. The outdoor playground is quite small. there is no indoor playroom, only a nursery with up-front reservations. The beach is rocky and not suitable for smaller kids. 3. It's loud, even though rooms are advertised as noise-proof. Due to the hotel's layout, the music from the restaurant is amplified and you can hear it in your room. But honestly, the worst part is that your room has an inner door to the one next to you. So you end up hearing every conversation of the hotel guests.
