Room was quite small with limited servicing. Only two towels and one bathmat for three nights.

Nice little room in a fantastic location at the corner of the beach. Common deck area was wonderful seltered from the wind with great view and comfortable seating. Lots of restaurant options nearby. Great access to the Dead Man's Gorge walk.

It's not I did not like, because we were prepared, but the room is very small and there was no way to cook anything. There is a kettle, a small fridge, and plates - you can make small breakfasts or cold meals easily but you won't cook there. Before I came I was sure I would eat outside - but it's just a warning for those who might expect to cook full meals in the apartments.

The Apartments are small but cozy - we stayed on for 2 nights, and we spent most of the time outdoors. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. In front of each there is table with chairs, and there is a common terrace with a beautiful view on the sea and the sunrise! The rooms have a window view partly on the sea - so be aware, you are going to fall asleep with sound of the waves! There are mosqitieras in the windows which is very nice! The bathrooms are clean and with great water pressure! If you are looking for the quiet remote place, with direct access to the sea in the very remote village (yes there are few tavernas but there is no shop) and you wanna just relax - or you wanna have nice spot to amazing places in the area (gorges/beaches etc)- that's the perfect place to stay. The beach in front the building is very nice and the water is crystal clear! The Zakro's Georg is worth to make! Amazing places! I'm sure I will be back here. And Athena's apartments have a lot of regular customers who are coming back each year (we met some)! :)

The incredible view of the sea from the window and from the shared terrace. The sound of waves crashing on the beach to fall asleep to (and wake up to). Charmingly decorated rooms which, although small, seem to have most things you need: fridge, kettle, cafetiere, cups, bowls, plates and cutlery. Clothes line for drying Perfect location on the beach, just 100 m or so from 3 restaurants open in early April. Try Nikos Platanikos if it's open. Just 200m or so from the amazing and well-interpreted Zakros Minoan Palace and the entry to Gorge of the Dead which is easy and spectacular. I'd rate Athena rooms at least 11/10 if I could!

Unfortunately we were at Kato Zakros when the worst storm in living history hit. We lost power temporarily & Wi-Fi overnight for more than 24 hours but the hosts made a great effort to sort it as soon as they could. They provided advice about the safety of walking after the storm. The studio apartments are not that well equipped for self catering. There is a good sized fridge & kettle but only minimal cutlery & crockery. There are several tavernas down the steps from the studios.

Lovely location & very pretty studio apartment with a lovely outdoor space. The host also left us coffee, tea, water, juice etc which felt very welcoming. She brought us cake after the storm.

Everything. The location was amazing and so peaceful. The room had everything we needed for our 3 night stay - including plates and cutlery so we could make our own breakfast. The hosts were lovely, We saw the sunrise every morning. Perfect. We would love to return and stay longer.

It is a beautiful place, the owner Thalia is so nice, the wine from her husband so wonderfully and Raki is sensational.....it is directly on the beach, nice terrace with seaview, clean and very nice rooms, with coffee and beer in the fridge... thank you for the cookies and the good time...we will come back.

Wonderfull place at a great location! The owner is just the nicest person! We even got a very special treatment because one of us is a little handicapd with walking. The balcony area is wonderfull. The second day all rooms got a bottle of olive oil and raki. We loved it there!

Great location, super view out over the bay. We had room 1, which has the best view. Very friendly owner. Clean and comfortable room, in old fashioned style. Car park right next to the building. Restaurants and beach 25 steps away!! Ruins only a short walk away. We would definately stay again. Eat at Nostos Restaurant. Excellent food, and right on the beach, best restaurant in the village.
