Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCant really think of anything I am not happy with? Lovely to have a swim pool; but this is a guest house, there are many hotels with pools anyway!
Location is far out; but if you want a little peace and quiet this is for you. Even if you awake at 11am they will still kindly serve breakfasts! Nothing too much for them; staff are great Fatou , Fatou, and Awa so very helpful you will want for nothing. Let them know your arrival time from the airport; and your departure time; they will kindly drive you to and from the airport free shuttle!!

GermanyParking facilities not well solved. (However, we also came with a large car). Signposts could be better placed. Why doesn't Booking.com simply provide the geolocation of the accommodation after the booking has been confirmed?
Very friendly welcome, all wishes were fulfilled to our satisfaction, very pleasant and courteous hosts. Lovely arrangement of the rooms that are sufficiently spacious. Good and quiet neighborhood.

United StatesAs I said the breakfast was not on time. The location is not ideal because of transportation and so make location signs available on each junction..
The staff was friendly. The breakfast service should be inprove and be done on time. Also transportation service information needs to be exact to the coustermer.

SwedenFor those who like silence a lot, it is a bit disturbing with TV, music and a lot of talk, not so much from guests though but from other people. So be prepared for that. For me, for example, it is a bit troublesome as I love to be quiet and calm and get pain in my ears from loud noise.
The self building is nice with one small garden, nice to sit t and relax. Due my disabled friend it was perfect stay for us, we had restaurant right over garden, and near to the entrance to the hotel so he not needed to walk too far. The room was spacious even if not big, but comfortable with a sit place with view over garden. Bathroom was good too., The staff is very nice and helpful, they helped a lot with my friend to move from place to place. Wifi works perfect. The food is good, you can choice what you wish to eat to breakfast and they serve also lunch and dinner if you wish. If you wish to be pick up at the airport can they arrange it too for good price.

NetherlandsThe room wasn't clean and there were spiders everywhere. The location is difficult to reach and it is impossible to go around without taking a taxi. Wouldn't recommend it to solo female travellers.
The staff was nice, Ava came over to ask if there was anything she could do to improve my stay.

SloveniaAccording to our experience: DO NOT GO THERE! What we experienced at the beginning of February 2023 was incredible in a negative way. Our experience was a sum of all the guests' negative reports so far and it boils down to the following: - the location we found on Booking was approximately 5 km from the real place, which was - as one can imagine - in the middle of nowhere (2.5 km to the nearest taxi stop). As we checked in mid-Februrary, the location has been reset and corrected (sic!). - the owner (awa) capitalizes on this (mis)information in order to immediately offer her guests her private transportation (SUV) for the whole day (to visit the Monkey forest, the Crocodile pool, Serekunda market and even Banjul) for nothing less than 50 EUR. Alternatively, she offered to provide her taxi (according to her the cheapest possibility: 700 GMD) while we got ours for 250 GMD; - the room was dusty & neglected and bathroom did not have warm water (despite advertising); - the WiFi was crawling at best; - during the first night there was also a loud "party" (see one of the earlier reports) quite late so it was difficult to fall asleep; - the "famed" breakfast consisted of eggs (in several ways), bread and butter, and ONE small cup of coffee. If one does not eat eggs, one gets only "bread and butter" (it was in fact margarine); - we first booked the place for 3 nights but decided - because of the transportation hassle - to move on after 2 nights. The owner demanded from us to cover her payment to Booking for that "lost" night (400 GMD or 6 EUR) AND 100 GMD for our second cups of coffee during our first breakfast, which she had not charged us after the breakfast. In her own words: "In Gambia one has to pay for all". - To sum up: during our 3-weeks trip to Senegal, Gambia and Guinea Bissau this was the only unpleasant stay - very much so!
The facilities - I will not talk here about the reported and real location! - could be nice but are not. There is quite a lot to dislike here! Please read our report below...
