Some aspects are tired - upvc bathroom window screwed shut, shower screen drip strip torn, loose power socket in room; blinds in restaurant missing/stained. Needs some maintenance work.

Staff very friendly and helpful, pool and spa welcome after a long day. Good location, close enough to city centre to be easily accessible without being in the busiest parts.

The only thing that I would say was not ideal is that there were not many TV channels available and that the food inside the hotel was not that cheap but that seems to be standard amongst all hotels.

The room was very comfortable. The swimming Pool was excellent. The location was ideal as it was not too far from the City centre and there were good places to eat nearby. The scenery around the hotel was excellent.

Beds too firm for us.

Staff friendly. Facilities good and great sized rooms. Spa and pool area clean and towels provided. But it was far too hot and the window only opened very slightly. Air con too loud to have on whilst sleeping. However would recommend.

Paying for parking was a bit annoying (£7 for 24 hours) but everything else was great.

Our room was great, so was the bathroom and the staff were really nice! It was a 30-min walk to the centre of York so location was perfect for us.

Very convenient to Bishopthorpe where we attended a funeral and easy access by bus to York for a quick visit later View from room of the racecourse and the Minster in the distance Excellent breakfast No need to park in York as the bus was so convenient

We chose a superior room, but the one we were allocated didn't look at all like the pictures on the website, which suggested there would be a separate seating area. We booked a half board package but found there was a very limited choice on the menu. The mixed bread sharing platter was very over salted, and the fish and chips were a bit underdone and soggy. So disappointing, in fact, that we ate elsewhere on our second evening.

Although not what we were expecting, our room was quite spacious and comfortable with a decent modern bathroom. All was spotlessly clean, and the pool and sauna cabin were a real bonus. Also, the staff were really helpful and friendly and the restaurant staff in particular did really well with a busy breakfast service.

Bar prices extortionate. The TV in our room kept switching off and going black. Maintenance did not come when called to report it.

£7 parking fee for guests, help yourself breakfast, pool was very busy on the evening but it was school holiday time. The room was hot but air con helped to achieve a good temperature for sleeping.

There were crumbs on the carpet from the previous occupant which just raised a question about cleanliness Also, did request a room with a view due to our visit being our wedding anniversary - this was not accommodated but room still nice apart from crumbs!

Room was bang in front of lift so heard everyone all night also was too hot and could get the air conditioner to blow cold also the pool is tiny looks bigger in the pic which is why I mainly wanted to stay there but ended up not going in it

Having to pay for parking on top of what isn't a cheap room rate.

The location is very good being a reasonable 1.8 mile walking distance to the city centre. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very good.

Had to pay for parking in their own car park after paying £240 for a room. Peeved about that.

Room was comfy, quiet and well provisioned. Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi all very good. Kids loved the pool.

Sadly my room was right beside some kind of generator which made a really annoying noise for ages in the middle of the night and stopped me from getting back to sleep

The jacuzzi wasn’t working and there didn’t appear to be any work taking place to fix it - we tend to choose hotels that have a pool and jacuzzi, so this was a disappointment. It was unusual that the hotel charged for car parking. If there is a problem with people using the car park to travel into York, I can understand that it might be sensible to charge a fee, but I think this should be waived for guests. It felt like an additional tax on the room price.

Spotlessly clean everywhere - room and all communal areas. Very pleasant staff. Good location - walkable to the city centre. Excellent and plentiful breakfast. Nice warm pool.

Pool was a little small, and with it being school holidays, we struggled to get time in the pool. Some hotels have a cut-off time for children so adults can have a swim.

Comfortable room,staff were absolutely brilliant, especially Sau from housekeeping who always had a hello and smile for us, breakfast had a good range and tasty.
