Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayExtra expenses, for example for renting a towel or leaving the luggage in storage after check out (charge per each item of luggage); check out policy is at 10 and should you consider check out at 12 then you have to pay a fee Continental breakfast is not worth it at all in my opinion, very few choices, there was no cooked breakfast option available at that time (1 hr before breakfast closing)
Very convenient location, in the middle of everything. Can get a bit noisy until late because of that. Room was okay and it has a large storage cabinet that you can lock and use to store your things (ideally bring your own padlock) Lovely bar area and even had live music that day, overall great stay.

United KingdomThe room layout felt slightly cramped with the positioning of beds, lockers, etc but I can't also say there would have been a more efficient way
The staff are kind. Some are welcoming, some just don't care too much but that's still okay. Bed size was quite decent such that I slept fine, and also had my bag next to me

United KingdomAs others have said, it is extremely loud until 4am due to its location. However we knew this on booking and were prepared for this. The rooms/ bathroom could have been cleaner, for the price expected it to be a bit better.
Great location, good breakfast, comfy beds, good hot showers. Also loved the water refill station at reception!

ChinaThe house was much smaller than I expected. The space for the upper bunk is relatively small, very close to the roof, and iit's not possible to sit up straight, strongly recommended to book a bed in the lower bunk in advance, only 3 pounds, especially tall tourists . And recommended that the bathroom can add shelves for shower amenities.
It's easy to access to the property which close to the train stations and most of acctractions. The staffs were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomNothing bad to say - it is worth noting that although the staff provide hot water for instant meals and freeze-dried food on request (as standard) and may heat an odd item (microwave meal) at there discretion, this place doesn't have a kitchen. I think the answer is probably just to loosen the policy allowing staff to reheat stuff. I think there has to be a fair balance between them obviously wanting you to buy their food (which is lovely) and being able to heat your own budget food some of the time. This isn't a criticism BTW it's one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in
Lovely place, kind and clean, modern and welcoming, and with lovely staff in a bright and lively central location. A fair bit of noise from neighbouring clubs and clubs, so do bring earplugs just in case. Happy hour makes drinks accessible and the place does lovel pizzas, though a little pricey having one every night for a week! The staff really could not be nicer. Close to Loverpool One, the Three Graces, the Cavern Club, and some very moving memorials on the river front. You will become a Scouser!

FranceThe only bad point would be the noise. Since it's in the middle of a noisy street, it can be complicated to sleep. Also it can be kinda cold in the room.
The location is perfect, in the centre, which permitted us to go around at night. Also loved the fact that there is a restaurant/bar on the first floor with 20% off. And the fact that the bathroom is directly in the room add a lot more comfort.
