Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMight I suggest that guests staying could perhaps have breakfast at the pub? Maybe some sort of negotiation with them? We had no food with us and the pub wouldn’t allow us to have breakfast (we would have paid) and had to cycle up to the golf club, which did serve a fab bacon buttie and proper coffee.
For a one night quick stop this was perfect for us. My husband is 6ft 4 and we slept well in the pull down bed. Clean and it had everything we needed. We were only staying one night as cycled the Southdowns Way and thankfully the pub next door did great food.

United KingdomEverything was excellent, nothing to fault.
Stunning views from the shepherds hut, well insulated from the overnight rain, well thought through bed and dining arrangements. Great location for exploring and accessing the local area. Everything you needed for a weekend trip with free parking in the pub car park next door.

United KingdomJust a couple of minor issues. The light on the bathroom mirror does not work. Bottom door lock very stiff and could not be moved.
Overall, very good location. Right next to a very good pub and also to the South Downs (walking distance). Facilities were generally excellent. Will certainly come again in the future and recommend coming here for other travellers.

United KingdomNot a dislike about the property, but it was actually better equipped than the description made out- we ended up taking a lot of things we didn’t need as they were already there. So it would’ve been good to know that before packing.
Secluded, cosy, comfortable, well equipped and very clean.

A perfect little hideaway. Absolutely everything we needed in a cosy tiny space! The view was gorgeous, the hut is really well stocked with everything you could want. It felt safe, secure and comfy. The owners are friendly and helpful.

United KingdomMy only suggestion might be for a mirror behind the cupboard door as the hairdryer cable doesn't reach to the bathroom one. But it's not a showstopper.
Cosy but comfortable and fun. Treats in the fridge very welcome after a days walking.

United KingdomA fantastic getaway among peaceful surroundings. I stayed just one night during a weekend course at Stanmer Park and it was the ideal location. Quick and easy to get to, with a lovely pub next door. The little touches raise this place above the competition, from cookies and fruit in the fridge, as well as plenty of coffee and tea, to the beautiful garden and outdoor seating area. I made sure I woke up early enough to enjoy a relaxed and peaceful morning with coffee and breakfast outside, listening to the sound of birdsong. As others have said, one night just wasn't enough and I look forward to a longer visit in the future.

United KingdomI don't think I would want to pack the bed away for more than a couple of days. Bit of a faff to move all the pillows & cushions to turn bed into table & vice versa. Don't forget anything on the shelves behind the bed!
Location and views are lovely. Cabin is very well kitted out, smart & modern. The advert is lacking some info- it has a TV, equipped kitchen, hair dryer, towels and bedding. I didn't meet the host but was given clear instructions to find the place. It was within walking distance of the Natural Burial Ground where we attended a funeral. Made the experience as nice as it could have been in the circumstances.

United KingdomNot a huge issue but the only thing I’d suggest is a larger mirror for getting ready somewhere would be handy, maybe the inside of the cupboard door or something but other than that we had everything we needed.
A lovely little hut that was well equipped. In a good location for getting to Brighton easily. We had a lovely stay
