Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe didn't know you couldn't use the spa facilities without booking in first Our room didn't get cleaned the 1st day so we had to ask for loo roll as they'd only given us half a roll The double bed was 2 singles pushed together. Mine was great, my husband's had springs poking through Minor things but in a hotel like that and paying those prices it shouldn't happen
Nice location, nice setting for photos. Gave us free breakfast

United KingdomThe fact that we were made to feel like potential criminals having to prepay for everything despite them having our credit card from which they deducted full payment on arrival. This is the first hotel we’ve stayed at anywhere in the World where even drinks couldn’t be put against the room for payment on departure, having already given a credit card number. If that’s the way they treat guests I’m sure there are other hotels in the area which treat guests with more respect.

United KingdomWe stayed in the hall where the room decor was looking a bit tired in need of a revamp and people booking need to be aware that they need to mention if they have mobility issues as there are no lifts available .
Breakfast was very good as was the evening meal. Location and setting was really nice well worth the visit

United KingdomOnly negative point to raise was the levy imposed on guests to use the leisure facilities during the day. £39 to use facilities that don't appear to of been upgraded or refurbished. Not sure why they have installed a number of hot tubs in the bar / patio area?.
Hotel is well placed with Wakefield / Leeds all within easy travelling distance. Room 26 was excellent, great view. Meals in the Restaurant and at breakfast was also excellent.

United KingdomOur room was lacking natural light. Perhaps the top 3rd of the windows could be clear to show the sky. Soft furnishings including carpet showing age and wear including a couple of stains. Some assistance available with luggage from the carpark to the island would be useful, even if just a trolley.
Beautiful property in a lovely setting. Very good food offered including vegetarian and vegan choices.

United KingdomIt would have been lovely to have been on the island, but despite having the room next to the car park we had a very quiet evening.
The breakfast was a disappointing choice of boring cereals and not very many packaged yoghurt.

United KingdomThe bed was like sleeping on a rock it was so hard and extremely uncomfortable and the room was very dated and could of done with being decorated and the bath was dirty But they came straight away and cleaned it when we told them about it .I ordered a steak in the restaurant and it was stone cold when I got it . The biggest annoyance was if you wanted to use the swimming pool you had to pay an extra charge of £39 per person which we felt was ludicrous and plus it was only set times that you could use it aswell
The staff was lovely and the room was very spacious in a lovely location as Our room over looked the river

United KingdomThere was a problem with hot water - apparently they had tried to contact me to warn me and offer a cancellation but we were travelling. Our lovely room had curtains that were is shreds on the side, a chair with the underneath hanging down and a dirty skirting board by my bed.
Stunning location - friendly staff who offered us extras to compensate for the lack of any hot water

United KingdomMinor glitches rather than dislikes. The Grand Cafe was functional but in such a green area why the plastic flowers - lose them please. The menu was a bit pretentious but the food not very exciting. Running a hotel is expensive but the room was a bit tired looking (chipped wall paper); the bathroom sundries were sparse and loo roll supply mean. Not within the hotel's control - phone signal so weak as to be almost non existent
Very friendly staff - always willing to help The location was superb - the hotel is on an island in a lake surrounded by beautiful gardens. It was quiet and relaxing. For a Georgian hotel the plumbing was good and the shower reliable!! Excellent fish and chips in the cafe. The hotel's history is interesting: first known nature reserve (albeit created from sugar plantation wealth) owned by the inventor of the bird box of with potential for further recognition as a heritage green space. Make more of the history as a selling point.

United KingdomUnfortunately there were no hooks in the room or bathroom on which to hang outdoor clothes or towels. Breakfast and food at dinner was mostly enjoyable: - however, the bread was so disappointing. Why in such a beautiful hotel do you have sliced blotting paper for bread at breakfast? Poached eggs on blotting paper rather than on a fresh local loaf or sourdough was such a disappointment. The best hotels have delicious fresh locally baked bread at the breakfast table. That's the main downside - fussy I may be - but quality of food is so important these days.
Staff were utterly delightful. Location was divine. The shower was most enjoyable with plenty of pressure so that my body has never felt so clean and refulgent. The whole refit of the hotel was well done and blended old and new effectively.

United KingdomJust a few things which need mentioning. Our room was a little tired and not cleaned very well. It had been vacuumed but around things, small items could have been moved. One glass was dirty from the previous guest and one mug had a chipped handle and coffee marks running down the side. This was quickly rectified but shouldn't have happened.
The views are stunning and a very nice hotel. Spacious room.
