Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMosquitoes could be a problem around summer time which is why we didn’t mind having a spider around. If I was being super picky the doors may need aligning as it can be difficult to close. There’s slight mould build up in the sealants of the shower room seal. But overall did not affect the comfort of our stay.
The Charismatic charm, leading to a secret garden which gave plenty of privacy to the cabin. The room was very comfortable and clean (blue light approved) The location was excellent walking distance to town and that its dog friendly, plenty for the dog the sniff around. The host was polite and courteous, we were well looked after.

United KingdomHard to think of anything we didn't like! Maybe a small sign at the entrance would have been helpful - we weren't certain we'd come to the right place...

United KingdomMinor Issue - The mattress on the bed is uneven and could do with replacing, wasn't the most comfortable. Minor Issue - The shower only provided hot water for about 3/4 minutes which was very disappointing. Hopefully this can be rectified in the future as it would be the only consideration if we were to stop there again.
Very picturesque, set in a lovely grown garden at the rear of the property. Location is fantastic for Cowes Parking available right outside the property. Excellent Breakfast cooked to order. Very friendly host with loads of information about the local area.

United KingdomLovely little chalet in a beautiful big garden. Saw red squirrels in the garden whilst we ate breakfast on the veranda! A walk downhill to the high street. Quite steep on the return for anyone who is less fit/mobile but it was okay for us. We did drive down closer one day to get some groceries quickly. Lovely hosts. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning from Jonathan. The room had a TV so we enjoyed being able to watch a film at night. Nice hot shower. The room was a good size and warm enough (Jonathan quickly swapped our oil heater out because we realised it wasn't working). We would happily stay here again.

Melissa and Jonathan, the owners, are wonderful and made us feel really at home whilst providing a brilliant breakfast in the morning. United KingdomIt is always a risk for me personally when going away as I have a tendency to get an aching back if the mattress isn't supportive enough and I didn't find the mattress supportive. I would also have liked to see more pillow choice as I have neck issues and need a supportive (but not over-firm) pillow. I also found the cold air through the windows a little uncomfortable. If the window seals are replaced I am sure this could easily be solved and may mean you're less likely to turn the heating up to try and compensate (which was tied to the main house's timings). It would be nice to have some variation at breakfast offered, even if agreed the night before, such as omelette or baked goods like croissants rather than toast.
The chalet that our daughters was in was a very cosy and private spot with its own verandah (great in summer I'm sure) and a very self contained space pointing down the garden not towards the house so it isn't overlooked. The room in the house we had was accessed by its own stairs at the back of the house and was a nice space with its own well-appointed and large bathroom across the top of the stairs. The view was out of the front of the house. Having tea and coffee and a kettle in the room was really welcome too. It was really handy to have a gate through the back garden directly into Northwood House park and the garden is lit by lots of solar-powered fairy lights at night so you can see your way. This room is directly above the other guest room in the house on the ground floor, which is next to the owners' kitchen/diner. The quilt was plenty warm enough, a tad too warm perhaps! Breakfast was 'full English' and tasty.
