Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaNothing at all. We loved our stay and hope to return someday.
The rooms were large with very comfortable beds. The living areas were also large enough to comfortably accommodate 8 people. The kitchen was very well equipped with all utensils that could be needed to cook for a group of people. The wi-fi was good and very easy to connect to. A wonderful basket of coffee, tea, muesli, marmalade etc was waiting for us in the kitchen on arrival. So appreciated. The surrounding area was quiet and beautiful with lovely walks available.

BelgiumNice and quiet in the countryside yet within easy reach of the coast and Canterbury. Very well equipped (except couldn't find a plug for the sink) and the icing on the cake was the very generous hamper full of high-quality products! Truly a lovely surprise.

NetherlandsThere's not too much that I disliked about our stay in the lodge. If I had to nit-pick I would say that the water pressure in the shower could be improved, but it was adequate. Some of the toilet mechanisms required a few tries or a little bit of extra Force to get the flush to completely drain the bowl. I was unaware that the tap water was not drinkable until I discovered the courtesy water at the back door of the kitchen. Some of the door handles were difficult to operate due to their small diameter ball style and I could see this becoming an issue for anybody with a handicap. The door latch on bedroom number one on the ground floor did not line up with the wall correctly and thus would not stay closed and while this was not a problem for us I can see this might be an issue for those wanting a bit more privacy.
The lodge was a large and spacious vintage home. Beautiful architecture and very well renovated inside. The property on the hole was extremely beautiful outside and the dining room was able to comfortably accommodate two families. There was ample bedding and the beds were comfortable. The house was pleasantly warm upon our arrival. Prior to our arrival the staff (Jane) was very communicative and helpful to set the house up for our specific needs. There was plenty of firewood which we made use of to create an even more cozy atmosphere in the living room. We were very thankful that we did not need to pack a travel cot for our baby as one was provided.

United KingdomIt came as a bit of a shock to find the flat was over a stable yard. The bedroom is literally above a stable which had a horse in. We have horses so understand how it can be, but they started yard work very early ie 0630 right outside our window, and one night a horse became quite distressed and whinnied all night causing a disturbed nights sleep, It is a shame as the view over the yard should have been idyllic.
Lovely little flat, really well equipped with a comfy sofa and bed, loved the welcome hamper and the beautiful location

United KingdomBed large and comfy but one side against wall - didn’t bother me but maybe a problem for a couple.
Excellent location in countryside but easy access to Canterbury and coast. Delightful flatlet - may be bit cosy for 2 people but perfect for 1. Horses an added bonus.

United KingdomThe stairway up to the flat is quite steep which made getting luggage in and out tricky. An additional kitchen knife would have been handy. The smell of horses was to be expected but overwhelming at times.
Food hamper was a lovely touch! The flat had a homely relaxed feel. The bedroom and bathrooms were spacious, however more storage in bedroom could have been helpful. The area was quiet and serene in the countryside surrounded by great views and wildlife. Although the location was not near many amenities, it was central to many of the larger towns which made getting to see the whole of Kent accessible by car relatively quick.

United KingdomWe stayed here during February half term with my 3 teenagers. Splendid location, nicely tucked away in quiet countryside. The house was clean, warm, and very spacious. The welcome hamper was a thoughtful touch and was well received. Dover Coast, Herne Bay and Canterbury are all within easy reach by car. Had a wonderful time and would visit again.

United KingdomThe only issue that was picked up on by all 7 of us that stayed was that the water pressure was extremely low. It was not that noticeable in the kitchen when filling the kettle for example but it really did make showering a chore, particularly for the 4 females in the group who all have long hair as it made it very difficult to rinse the shampoo out thoroughly.
We love the location as it is easy to get to a number of nearby places i.e. Sandwich, Canterbury, without too much of a drive and the actual property is really quiet and private. The house was extremely clean and tidy and all the relevant crockery, cutlery, etc was available. There was the added bonus of a lovely little hamper of goodies left by the owners for us upon our arrival. Due to the time of year that we stayed (mid-December) they even had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge area that, along with the open fire, gave it a really seasonal feel.
