Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location was perfect ,in the town centre close to the shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel room exceeded my expectations, high quality, impeccably clean, spacious and the extra touches such as the hand written note were a lovely touch.

United KingdomI've stayed at the Swan several times and have always been happy with everything. On this occasion our room was above the large function room which was holding a party, or evening wedding reception. The noise was quite bad and we decided to leave as no other rooms were available. Credit where due, I had a full refund and apology. I WOULD definitely stay at this hotel again, the staff are great and their response to our refund request was exceptional. A great place to stay.

The room was lovely. Spacious, warm, good lighting. TV, kettle, tea, coffee etc. Everything we needed. Staff were amazing, efficient, very helpful and friendly. Great pub, lovely food. Breakfast was self service with a good choice of food. Prompt and friendly service. The Three Swans is on the main street in Harborough. Free parking was included. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough .... and it is great value for money.

NorwayUnfortuneately our 5 nights holliday in Harborough market at the three swans hotel getting spoiled of a leader that can not understand what is the meaning of customer service. We are eating breakfast every day at the hotel. Eating and drinking at lunch usually in the bar. We thought this was a nice place in a nice city, for me and my 12 years old daughter. Until an «important» leader came and told us «you can not eat food that you don’t buy here in a sitting area outside the hotel, with space for maybe 70 persons. And now only 4, my daughter, me and two other guests. We were tired after shopping, we bring four bags and I had just bought a beer in the bar that I asked if ok to drink outside. But only half a sandwich from the store Subway we are not allowed to eat outside, while we are resting and had a nice time. Maybe its only a small thing, but because of that it would be very very easy and gentle to explane «the rules» for this place and instead of cutting off our hand ask if we can eat inside our room next time we buy something to eat outside this place. If you prefer a serviceminded management its better to choose another place. i don’t come back. Its easy to find another.
Full english breakfast. Nice small city. Friendly people.

United KingdomThe tea and coffee bags were good quality but the rest of the facilities for a cuppa were pretty standard. One thing that was really needed but missing, was a USB point.
I love the history of this hotel and the original inn. The common areas and function rooms still have period features which add to the hotel’s character. I had a single room but the bed was bigger than a standard single. It was very comfy, the room temperature was perfect and I slept like a log. The bathroom was plenty big enough for one with a great shower and good quality toiletries. All the staff I met were friendly and welcoming, and efficient at their job.

United KingdomBreakfast staff were rather curt and off hand on both mornings which wasn’t the best start to our day. The bar, restaurant and reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Good choice of breakfast items on buffet, tasty sausages and bacon but fried eggs very greasy.
Superior double room was so much nicer than the Double room I’d stayed in in older part of hotel. Huge bed, great bathroom and spacious quietly situated in a block behind main hotel.
