Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStandard service charge !! Not into that it should be more prominent on the menu and pointed out when you are ordering your food , we weren't .......
Location , food , staff . Location easy parking 2 minutes walk , 2 mins from cathedral and same again for castle . If you're into shopping only 10 mins walk to town centre high street and a nice walk around the waterfront . But a hike back up "steep hill" not for feint hearted but really not too bad ..... Food plenty of bars and restaurants around the hotel but we stayed in the antlers restaurant which is part of the hotel which also offers bar food . Drinks are well stocked however surprised at lack of "whisky" .... Breakfast plenty to choose from however our last day wife ordered fruit and french toast with maple syrup but the syrup did not materialise but the breakfast is a good choice .staff ....very good but chap who booked us in was a bit like end of shift and was polite but just "pointed" the way to the room however guy who was on door with bowler hat and tweed jacket on was top notch really helpful "showing us rather than pointing"... One other thing 10% service charge is standard on bill , don't do what I did and tip more !! ..... Definitely worth a stay though .....

United KingdomReception staff were not welcoming when entering the hotel. It isn’t made clear enough where reception or the restaurant are, everyone was wondering around looking for the same place. We were charged £20 on arrival for a dog despite pre-paying online before arrival and not being told about the extra charge at any point upon booking. I noted we will be staying with a dog in the special requests and the hotel reached out to say an early check in would not be guaranteed (we managed to check in at 2:30pm) but didn’t acknowledge the dog or use that opportunity to inform us of the charge. I assume the extra charge for a dog is for the extra cleaning, however the room was not clean on arrival! We left it in better condition than we arrived! Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, having to clean the room before you can relax is not what you expect. No bowl for water or food is given for a dog so good job we took our own and no blanket, dog bed or a treat is provided. There wasn’t a full length mirror in the room which was disappointing. Breakfast was very poor, the cooked items were ok but they shouldn’t bother with the continental options it’s an embarrassment what was displayed in the restaurant. Other guests were not considerate when coming back to their rooms at all hours in the night slamming doors, which made the dog wake up and then us.
Perfect location and the bar staff were lovely, very accommodating and friendly with our dog. The food and service in the bar on the evening we stayed was delicious. Overall it was a good stay at the hotel with a dog, however we probably wouldn’t stay again but come back for the main dog friendly bar service (not the restaurant) for the food and the lovely staff.

United KingdomThe room itself was rather gloomy the centre light was quite dim but the décor dull and would benefit from being nice an brightly decorated. The tea and coffee was a little disappointing with not really enough tea and milk to get two cups a day each as we liked a cup early mornings and just before bed. The high service charge in the bar was unexpected and you could not go to the bar to get a drink, nice to have the service but the cost is rather high.
The room was a good size and lovely and clean. The bed was very comfortable indeed and the duvet kept us nice and warm. There was plenty of storage for clothes and stuff. The bathroom was wonderfully bright and light, clean and the shower very good. The position of the hotel in relation to the best sights to see in Lincoln is perfect. The breakfasts we had over our stay were lovely, plenty of it and cooked extremely well.

United KingdomWanted an earlier check-in as visit to Lincoln was for funeral but hotel unable to accommodate despite the hotel being relatively quiet. Understand reasoning during busy periods but this was not the case on this occasion. Also lighting was difficult for applying makeup. Bathroom mirror too far away.....feel a smaller additional mirror would be helpful as the mirror in the room itself although better positioned the lighting was still poor despite a desk lamp insitu.
Very convenient, upgrade on arrival was a very nice surprise.....excellent breakfast.....refurbishment very positive, looking forward to completion and that the hotel is still very much a part of uphill Lincoln. I'm a Lincoln yellow belly and left my home town 40yrs ago, it's still very much a part of my life as continue to visit family abd friends. Thought the doorman was no longer a part of the hotel but was delighted to see him the following day.....I always remember as a child, living on Newport, seeing the doorman on my daily walk through the Bail so for me he was an integral member of staff and very much a part of the hotel along with the swing doors.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. From the moment I checked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the comfort of the beds. They were so comfortable that it felt like sleeping on a cloud, ensuring a great night's sleep. The hotel's cleanliness was impeccable, with every corner spotlessly maintained, which made my stay even more comfortable and stress-free. Additionally, the drinks at the hotel were not only delicious but also very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise and allowed me to unwind without worrying about a hefty tab. Overall, my experience was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this hotel is sure to exceed your expectations!

United KingdomWorkmen on the fire escape outside our room from 7am. Noise from a dehumidifier or air con unit meant windows couldn't be left open so the room was stuffy and hot. Antlers restaurant was disappointing. The hotel was not full so management could have (maybe should have) upgraded our stay as they were aware of the renovations.
Fantastic location between the Castle and the Cathedral. The hotel is currently being renovated to a high standard and it is not the finished article yet. The "cosy double" was indeed very small but the bathroom and shower were really nice. All the staff were lovely and the breakfast plentiful and cooked to order. Also liked the cocktail bar which was very stylish.

United KingdomHotel was still undergoing some renovation and there was not lift available. Stairs are steep and tricky ( I have a mobility issue). Our daughters room had a problem with a noisy cistern and no heating. It was a one night stay and when reported at check out there was no offer of recompense whatsoever to remedy the faults.
Breakfast and service was great. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Staff extremely helpful. Had a lovely dinner in the Antlers Restaurant.

United KingdomThe 'Garage' is/has been used for other purposes and the roof demolished. That's a shame as secure parking was a major plus for the Hotel and now you are left with the (expensive) local public car parks which are a few minutes walk away. Also, the bathroom (especially the shower) could do with a couple of 'support points' as you exit the bath area - stepping out of the shower onto ceramic tiles with wet feet isn't fun at our age! Also the lift was out of action due to refurbishment works - not fun with a torn ligament!
The room was nice overlooking Bailgate and the square and actually had opening windows! Lovely refurbished bathroom and power shower. Breakfast, as usual, was superb. Having a proper Doorman is a good touch and adds 'value'; he is a credit to the Hotel.
